I am a "function over form" type of guy.

The functional elements of anything out-weigh style color etc.

The feature that I value MOST on a number is the readability of the number, including the font used, the color contrast, the visibility of numbers from numerous angles and  any other distinguishing feature you can describe. In American sports history, the New York Yankees put numbers on the uniforms so fans from afar could identify the players.  I don't care if the the background/dominant color is black, white, purple, gold, maroon etc. I want numbers to contrast with the background.

In this case, the HSU football uniforms fail.
