Wheaton with almost more penalty yards than yards from scrimmage (61 to 75).

Ugly game by both teams. Stupid unsportsmanlike conduct penalties on 3rd and long to extend drives.

Carthage with twice as many plays. Wheaton backed up deep in their field for much of 2nd quarter. 33 yard punt from 2 yard line returned 23 yards led to Carthage drive starting in red zone.

Wheaton appears to have lost Pettaway to injury.

BTW: Huge, I mean HUGE goalline stand by Wheaton late in 2nd quarter kept it from a Carthage lead.

Just as I was thinking this may be the worst performance by Wheaton offense in a long, long time, two consecutive completions by Bowers going 70+ yards has Wheaton up 13-7. 2 straight completions is a big deal considering Bowers was 3 for 12 prior. Peltz was 1 for 5. Yet another missed PAT. That is troubling and could bite them in this game.

Nichols 70 yard punt return for TD. 2 pt conversion failed. 19-7 Wheaton. Nichols coming up huge. Also has 51 yard reception on last TD drive.
