Big play. 2:23 left in game.  Wheaton leading Carthage 19-14.  3rd and 15 from Carthage 39.  Bowers completes 19 yard pass.

Game over in Kenosha.   19-14 Wheaton over Carthage.  Suspected this would be very hard fought battle. Didn't expect so many mistakes and bad penalties by Wheaton. Carthage defense must be for real.  I didn't see game, but play-by-play hinted at how disruptive they were.  Very little rushing for Wheaton (less than 100 yards) and less than 50% completion by Bowers and Peltz.  Not often you'll come away with W when that is the case.

Embarrassing display so far, for Augie at Carthage.  Down 14-0 at end of 1st quarter.  Augie had 3 unsportsmanlike penalties on Carthage's last drive and another inexplicable roughing the QB penalty which kept Carthage's first TD drive alive (Augie's D lineman hit the qb several seconds after he threw a swing pass).  Augie D lineman Keith King (he also had the roughing penalty) ejected after the last unsportsmanlike penalty and also an unsportsmanlike penalty on an Augie coach.  Complete lack of discipline by Augie, so far.

Augie answers with a TD, now 14-7 with a little over 9 mins left in the half.  Carthage tried a fake punt which didn't succeed and gave Augie good field position at the Carthage 43.  Carthage also paid Augie back with an unsportsmanlike penalty during the drive.

Augie playing much more disciplined in the 2nd quarter and has come back to tie at 14-14 with 2 minutes left in the half.  18 yard td pass from Fuller to Lattner.

Carthage drives down and scores to make it 20-14.  Miss the EP.   A combination or really bad tackling and incredibly soft coverage leads to the td.  On a 3rd and 5 during the drive, Augie's CB was at least 12 yards off the outside receiver.  a 5 yard hitch route and a missed tackle led to a 29 yard gain.  Augie also decided to decline a holding penalty deep in Carthage's territory, which would have made it a 2nd and 20 instead of a 3rd and 10.  They then proceed to jump offsides, which led to the 3rd and 5 scenario I just described.  After a really good second quarter, they just gave the momentum back to Carthage.

Augie drives down on 1st possession of 2nd half.  Goes for a FG on 4 and 4 and Carthage jumps offside.  Augie scores TD on next play. 21-20 Augie with 8:37 to go in 3rd.

Augie gets a turnover deep in Carthage's territory but gives it right back on an INT at the 2 yard line.  21-20 Augie at the start of the 4th.  Carthage has a 3rd and 9 from their own 3 yd. line coming up.

Augie holds.  1st and 10 at the Carthage 36 yard line.

Augie receiver drops a first down on a 3rd and nine.  Punt it back to Carthage, who has it 1st and 10 from their 4 yard line.  13:49 left in the game.

Nice return on Carthage punt give them 1st and 10 at the Carthage 30.  Augie's offense needs to do something here.

I am so angry watching the end of the Augie game, I can hardly stand it.  Augie D gives up a 3rd and 16 for a first, a 3rd and 24 for a first, and then on 3rd and Goal, Augie gets a stop which would've forced a 4th and goal from the 6 yard line.  However, Augie's CB thought it would be a good idea to taunt the Carthage player after making a hit on the 3rd down, so Augie get's it's fourth unsportsmanlike penalty to give Carthage a first down.  They score and Augie is down 27-24 with less than 1 minute left. Augie driving at the Carthage 25 with about 30 seconds left.

Augie misses a 42 yard FG at the end of the game.  Augie absolutely gave this game away.  I don't know what the coaching staff is going to do about it, but stupidity was the reason Augie lost that game.  How does a team commit 4 unsportsmanlike penalties in 1 game?  That coupled with the 3rd and 16 and the 3rd and 24 where there wasn't an Augie defender even close to the receiver, is absolutely mind boggling.

Common thread is that it is against Carthage?  Wheaton had 3 bad unsportsmanlike or personal foul penalties against Carthage.   :-\
