12 turnovers, a pick 6, blocked punt for TD.  This game has been anything but boring.

Hate to correct an all american 2 pick 6's for NCC

Ah... could be.  I only joined in on the fun half way through the 2nd quarter.  I missed that one.

that's OK just added more fun to this game

Mr. Ypsi

That was great fun.  Posts got out of order, because for awhile, every time I hit 'post' it would say there were new posts and wouldn't immediately post!  I think the last time that ever (consistently) happened was a bball conference tourney final. ;)

Thanks again; Elvis has left the building!

I would say that I'll be around for next week, but I believe I'll be heading to the other side of DuPage county to bring the Bell back.

Final total - Jones threw EIGHTY FOUR passes!  I hope the trainer has a LOT of ice. ;)

You want to look at two completely different games in CCIW action today?

NCC/Carthage: 63-48

Augie/IWN: 7-0

You might as well bring the Mini Cooper, Mugs, cuz the Bell won't be leaving Naperville!
You win! You always do!

You obviously are not as familiar with the Bell as Wheaton alum.  It'll fit easily into a Mini Cooper.

I don't post often and have been a CCIW fan for years. NCC is my team. In the Thorne years, they have always had a potent offense but the defense has been suspect. I believe that this year the D is pretty good. They can do things that past defenses could not. Although today's game still shows that the D lags well behind the offense. The offense for NCC is a flat out Juggernaut.  Their ability to score at will is something to behold. If they were to face a Mount Union or a UWW, they could put significant points on the board. I doubt though that it would be enough, given the defensive weakness.  Considering the injuries the have sustained, which would be catastrophic to most teams, I truly think that NCC is a hairs breath away from being a top tier team capable of defeating a MU if they can bring their defense up to at least complimentory to their offense, So close!

No question NCC continues to get better and better.  One word of caution though... watch the talk of being able to dethrone MUC or UWW.  The number of times I've said this the past 15 years only to see them wipe out a CCIW team by 20+ points.  Time will tell and let's not get ahead of yourself.  Last I checked, NCC still has a number of the tougher CCIW teams to play in the next 4 weeks.  Just getting to the playoffs at this point is not given.  Likely... yes, a given... No.

Thought I made it clear that because of defense, NCC has a way to go to compete with MU or UWW.  The point I was trying to stress is that NCC has an offense that we have not seen in the CCIW for quite some time. The defense is way behind. Until it can catch up, NCC cannot compete at the level that MU and UWW have set. Understanding that, and coupled with the dearth of key injuries that NCC has sustained, I think that  NCC program has shown the depth and progress needed to compete at the very highest level. And if they can continue to advance the program, A run at the title may be inevitable.

Somewhat clear until you finished your prior post with...

You state NCC is a "hairs breath" away from being a top tier team and NCC is "so close", yet you also point out the defense is not up to task yet, thus "has a ways to go."  So which is it?

I'd go further to point out numerous CCIW posters have expounded the past 5 years upon the fact that a CCIW team will not win a national championship until their defenses improve significantly.  Go back and look at the defensive stats for Augies 4 championship teams.  They were nasty good - much like the MUC and UWW defenses.
