They were 50% versus Albion and 40% vs Platteville.  So it is marginally lower than where they've been recently.

1 for 11, though, is not gonna get it done.

Agreed. This is where Peterson's loss was most acutely felt. He was very good this year on 3rd down. And a major reason why Bethel was one of the nations leaders in 3rd down conversions.

Early scores on opening day:

Wheaton 17, Coe 0, 11:00 2nd

Millikin 24, Greenville 3, 10:00 2nd

I can't get the two Stretch Internet games (Franklin @ Illinois Wesleyan and Elmhurst @ Loras) to load.

Millikin's now ahead of Greenville, 31-3, with plenty of time left in the second quarter. It looks like the Big Blue are not missing Stunning Sean Dunning's presence today.

Artie Checchin is good at football.  After Franklin drives for their second score to make it 21-14 Titans, Checchin returns the kickoff 100 yards for an answer score to go along with several big receptions.  28-14 Titans, late 2nd.  Titan D has forced a couple turnovers, but on the 2 scoring drives from Franklin, I feel like I'm watching the old Tampa 2 where we are getting picked apart over and over again just behind the backers but in front of the safeties.

St. Norbert @ Carthage just underway. No score.

Turnover on a botched punt by Titans and Franklin picks it up for 6.  28-21 Titans with 5ish left in the first half.

Half in Bloomington:

IWU 35
Franklin 21

IWU freshman QB Jack Warner has run for a TD and thrown for 2 in his first half of collegiate football.  He looks good.

Titans answer with a scoring drive.  The freshman looks pretty good so far.  35-21 at the half.

Late in the 3rd, it's IWU 42, Franklin 28.  The big plays on the Titan scoring drive were a 49-yard pass, Warner to Chechen, and an 11-yard scamble by Warner after he was trapped in the backfield.  I don't know how they scored the TD, as stretch went dead again at the crucial time.
