Meanwhile, Elmhurst and Augustana keep trying to give each other the game. Elmhurst keeps turning it over, and Augie keeps killing itself with stupid penalties.

Still 9-3, AC, with about five minutes to go in the game.

Surprisingly close games today in the CCIW.  Could be an interesting year.

Ec converts the 4th down.

How many people would have taken "Under" on total points in the Elmhurst/Augie game at 13 points?

Or total rushing yards "Under" 170 yards?

I would have gone with 3 times those numbers.

Another Warden score. NCC 42, MU 21. Whatever bad mojo was following NCC around in the fourth quarter the past few weeks has apparently reversed itself.

BIG time!  Against both UWP and Wesley, enter the fourth ahead, lose the game.  Against Millikin, enter the fourth behind and produce a rout! ;)

Remembering last week, IWU has decided not to dig such a hole again - 1 minute into the 2nd Q a Warner to Checchin TD pass makes it 21-3.

Update: less than 3 minutes later, Shoemaker-Gilmore runs it in to go up 28-3.

At the half, IWU 35, Millikin 13

Halftime in RI:

Augie 7
IWU 14

Augie up 178-56 yds total offense has to be a little frustrated. IWU with a big kick off return for a TD in the first quarter.  Augie drives to the goal-line before half and gets nothing.

Augie6

IWU up 14-7 at half vs Augie.  Augie statistically dominates the first half with with 178 yards of total offense and 21 minute TOP vs 56 yards and 9 minutes for IWU.  Difference in the game is a 93 yard kickoff return by IWU after Augie scores to tie the game at 7.  In an alarming trend, Augie twice had the ball inside IWU's ten yard line in the 2nd qtr and came away with zero points.  Missed a short field goal on the first drive, and, with 20 seconds left in the half, went for it on a 4th and goal from the 15 (following an IWU sack).  Augie's receiver catches the pass in the back of the end zone for what looked like a TD.  Not sure if the refs ruled him out of bounds or if the receiver juggled the ball, but the back judge waived it off.  That's five times in the last two weeks Augie has had the ball in the red zone and came away with no points.

Augie6

IWU up 21-7 with about 7 mins left in game.  IWU scores on a 50+ yard run from Shoemaker-Gilmore.  Neither team has done much offensively in the 2nd half, with the exception of the long TD run.
