I think they'll drop out. They lost to Bluffton and Alma (un-ranked) and Calvin who is #4 (somewhere in there). I would be surprised if they stay above 23.

Big match in MIAA play tonight. Alma at Hope for a 6:30 start. This game will be the first real test of the conference play for Alma.

I'd say that's a pretty accurate description of the match I watched last night.  From the start I got the sense that Hope wanted to make a statement that the previous weekend was not a true reflection of this team.  Mission accomplished.

Congrats to Rebecca Kamp for being named D3VB national player of the week after Calvin's 4-0 weekend at the Great Lakes Regional Challenge. The notice reads in part "For the year, Kamp is hitting an astounding .435 while averaging 4.09 kills and 1.41 blocks per set."

I wish I could have seen the Calvin-Wittenberg match -- it sounds like it was a match for the ages!

Massey came out with volleyball ratings for DIII teams, and the Great Lakes region has the top three spots and four of the top seven:

1. Calvin
2. Wittenberg
3. Heidelberg
4. Juniata
5. St Thomas
6. Emory
7. Hope
8. Cal Lutheran
9. Christopher Newport
10. Puget Sound

Other teams of interest:
11. Washington MO
23. Carthage
26. Chicago
29. Alma
33. Wooster
35. Mt Union
45. Capital

Don't put too much stock in these ratings yet because lots of matches are missing for some teams (only two for Juniata?) -- still interesting to see Calvin, Wittenberg, and Heidelberg topping the charts and Hope at #7, though.

Big match tomorrow between Calvin and Hope.

Yesterday's Calvin-Hope volleyball match was seen by 2212 people -- tied for 11th largest attendance in the history of DIII volleyball. Curiously, the match this one tied was a November 6, 2010 match between...Calvin and Hope.

Calvin shows up in four of the top 10, usually with Hope. The third largest attendance ever was 3,275 when UC San Diego played with Calvin here in Grand Rapids for the DIII NCAA final, when now-coach Amber Warners was playing.
