MIAA final Sat.  # 2 Hope at #1 Calvin.
Why am I not surprised?

It's actually only the 10th time in 22 tries they've met in the Championship game.  Albeit, 7 of those have occurred in the last 8 years.

The MASCAC final is Fitchburg vs. MCLA (a 15-10 team vs. a 14-12 team) after Fitchburg takes out regionally ranked and receving votes Westfield state 68-61 in the semifinals

Don't look now, but Mount Union is after another sport to dominate.  They took out OAC #1 Capital and plays Marietta (who won a rough 3OT game tonight).

I was beginning to think they pooled all their resources just into football....leaving the rest of their athletic department out to dry.

;)

UMU has had very strong showings in men's track in the last decade, too.

ahhhh. I stand corrected.

Three's often good crossover between football and men's track & field, though. Very often, a school with fast wide receivers has them don track togs in the spring.

Linemen make excellent throwers too.

In D-III it's very common to see football athletes who didn't participate in many (or any) track meets suddenly show up at the conference meet and score points.

For your listening pleasure,  Bill Mercer, one of the golden voices of broadcast industry, is doing the play-by-play in the UTD-Schreiner game.

The game is a runaway, but it is fun to listen to an announcer who has done MLB and NFL games doing a D-3 game.  His cadence, his enunciation and word pictures are a delight to the ear.

Schreiner has tightened the game to 6 points, UTD 24 Schreiner 18.

Schreiner's Guerrero hits a buzzbeater from mid-court!  UTD 30-26 at half.

UTD wins by double digits.  Plays CTX tomorrow. UMHB plays HSU.
