I just got the tailgate menu for V.O.L., as relayed by master chef:

630AM: Kegs and Eggs
930AM: Beer Can Chicken
11:00AM Tomahawk Steaks (2-4 28oz Tomahawks steaks, thin slice the meat, place on a roll, cover with provolone, peppers and onions.)
6:00PM Burgers, Brats, and Victory in Greencastle

I am leaving Denver tonight to travel to CrafordsVile by way of Chicago. It is going to be a long, difficult day at work.
Ol' Chefy has an impressive streak as well.  I believe this is his 16th consecutive, and he didn't attend either school!

B'bear and Danny Boy, may need some help to secure enough parking spots this weekend for player parents to tailgate.  Thinking we park the RVs back to back across parking spots to secure about 10 spaces for the regular "Back Row" tailgaters from DePauw's lot.  Then we can move them in the morning as they start to arrive.  I get there around 2 PM EST tomorrow.  When will you guys get there.
Let me know.

If I have my druthers, we will arrive no later than 4 pm.  Ideally, I'd like to have Chicago in the rearview by 10 am Central, arrive in Lafayette no later than 2 Eastern, quick RV inspection, then straight to C-VILE.  Mr. Bear seems to hibernate a couple nights prior to Monon (even though the bastard has no problem getting started at 6 am on game day), but if I can get him and Rhine McMurphy to cooperate then we will leave the Windy City and arrive behind enemy lines ASAP.

How's that work?

Wes, if you have trouble finding a parking space on Saturday, it's because your people here are going to eat up half of a parking lot by decuple parking their RVs.  Don't blame us.

Each year I drag out my 1973 issue of Sports Illustrated featuring the Monon Bell game and give it a read.

For those of you interested, here are the links to the two articles that Sports Illustrated has published about the game, one from 1973 and the other from 1993 or 1994.

Seeing that the Monon Bell Game is televised nationally, making it easier for people to stay home and not travel to the game, I was wondering where those who are going to the game are traveling from, and what number of Monon Bell games you have attended in person.

I am traveling from Denver, Colorado for my 14th consecutive.

21 between 1968 and 1996, Bear.  Not in cards for next few years, with five/six leg flight over two days from Botswana.  Will be thinking of y'all while Okavango Delta, tiger(-fish) swallow my flies over the weekend.   ;D

Fripp,

We will see what we can do when get down to Noladyland, A.K.A., Da'Vile.  I know that it is usually a first come basis in Da'Vile, but I am sure we can set aside a few spots. Or you can live dangerously and park right in the middle of Da'caveboyzz lot, as we did a few years ago. It really makes the weekend that more intense.

Like Danny Boy said, we will try to get down as early as we can.

See you soon.

Judging by how tame the boards have been this year, it appears that the caveboyzz are not as confident in their team as in the past.  It looks like dabash doesn't want to say something that will come back and nip them in the ass.  As a friend emailed me, "I guess when you lose a couple of games and you are not going to the playoffs, it makes you want to dress in red and spoon instead of hammering out some indefensible bulls**t."

I'm sure that's it.  No amount of board activity, or inactivity for that matter, will ever change a Wabash man's confidence in knowing that he is superior to you and your Dannie ilk in every way possible.  We don't need 15 pages of Post Patterns activity to hammer this point home.

I wonder if similar propaganda was fed to Wallies at Philistine Field once upon a time.

I'd say the reigning crown of "indefensible bull****" lies heavy upon YOUR head, bear. We certainly backed up our talk last year...
