Which will happen first:

1. Cortland fans will think of an Ithaca zinger that doesn't include the phrase "reach around"

OR

2.  Cortland fans will stay for the second half of a Jug game.

Discuss.

Oh... is that what happened? So you're telling me it's a tradition for Cortland fans to leave after the half when their team is up?

Is a 50K a year education better if you forget everything 5 years later? If their memories fade do IC grads forget the reach arounds that the upperclassmen they were forced to take in hopes of joining a Cornell wanna be frat?

Look, just because the most difficult thing a Cortland grad has to remember is that your work clothes (AKA sweatpants) can shrink in the dryer doesn't mean you need to mock our education.

I mean seriously, of course you're not going to pay $50,000 a year to go to Cortland State. How much do penny jerseys, plastic hockey sticks and kickballs cost anyway?

btw, I can't believe how effing expensive it is now. It was $36K when I graduated and that was ridiculous. how much is cortland now? has there been a significant spike?

or should we forget this even handed discussion and simply point out that every Cortland grad has had his tuition refunded for unsatisfactory results?

You know I was just talking with someone who works at a small liberal arts college in the Boston area about the recent spike of tuition at many colleges and there seems to be a common theme among them.  Basically, you could raise the price of these schools from 50K to 70K and pretty much 50% of the people who attend them are rich enough to pay it anyway.  If you droped the price from 50k to 30k a year, the same people who couldnt' afford 50K a year, really aren't going to afford 30K a year.

So in the end, there is a rich subset of America which has children and those children are going to go to college 99% of the time, and those families can pay for it.  That subst is large enough where the colleges can set whatever price they want, because they are going to pay whatever the price is.  Then everyone else usually gets enough free money (50% at many schools) and then some loans to pay ther rest.

Clever until you tossed in the also ever present Cortland fans leaving at the half comment.  Sorry the big tuition didn't pan out for you.

Ah yes.  We all know how expensive it is to purchase the complete set of every Broadway show tune which completely justifies the tuition over there at IC.

I say keep the extra tuition money you would have saved by not going to Ithaca.  You Cortland guys need it for the extra drinks/shots you will need shortly before the "ugly light" comes on at the Dark Horse...

I raise my glass to that which is always better then when the ugly light comes on in Ithaca as it's highly likely that you've been hitting on and buying drinks for an Ithaca Alum named Christine who you realize has an adam's apple.

True, "she'd" be getting her drinks on Mom's and Dad's dime or perhaps Grandpa's trust fund and as he's probably the only one that ever truly worked for a living, he's likely rolling over in his grave.

Or it could be from her high paying gig at ESPN...I'm just saying...

Yes we all know what a progressive hiring practice ESPN has but afraid they still are not hiring even Ithaca tranny's.  I'm just saying...

BTW when is the big Gay Pride Parade in Ithaca?  Hearing they moved the date to allow the Bomber Football team players to be able to march.

Nothing better than the Cortaca rivalry: Cortland vs. Hartwick!

Ha...it's all good.  I know a lot of people associated with the Ithaca program (past and present) and have a healthy respect, and first hand account, for the Ithaca-Cortland rivalry.  Obviously, I tend to lean towards the IC side on this one.
