Is there a readily-available women's QoWI?  I've seen hundreds of different interpretations on what the men's side looks like, but nothing on the women's side.

Sure; http://www.d3sports.com/post/index.php?topic=2920.105

The women's site is in many ways a mirror image of the men's, only with a lot less hand-wringing.

Wow, I didn't realize Denison was going to be that high (#33) in the country.

Even as a Witt person, I'm assuming the Big Red will win the tourney this weekend, but if not, I would seriously hope that they get a look for the tourney.

I assume you'll be there in Granville; if so, I'd appreciate a brief recap of the games, since obviously I can't rationalize going.  Scotsbrod might appreciate it too, as he's going to the OAC men's soiree in Bexley.

I wish the conference would stagger these tournaments so people like me could get to both.  It seems a little unfair to the women, if you ask me.  Good luck this weekend, at least to your women's team.  ;) :D

Will do on the updates.  I'll be there for Witt's game and (if Witt wins) the first half of the Kenyon-Denison game, unless the team's plans change.

I do agree on the staggering.  While I'm not sure if there's anything they could do about the semifinals, I know (simply because a bunch of us had this convo the other day) that the championship games used to be staggered - women's at 2 or 3, and then the men's at 7.  Not sure why the change was made this time.

Women's Semifinal Results:

Allegheny 54
Witt 49

Kenyon 44
Denison 62

Witt played downright awful tonight.  Top 3 scorers coming in went a combined 2-20 in the first half, Tigers missed at least 5 wide open layups, and also went a dreadful 11-23 from the free throw line.  Allegheny led by as many as 13/14, and Witt cut it down to 6, but poor shooting did them in.  Allegheny feasibly could have won by a lot more, but they were below 35% shooting for the game.

Only saw the first 3 possesions of the Denison game, but it was Big Red 3, nothing for Kenyon, Big Red 3.  If things work out like they did tonight, Denison will win tomorrow in a romp . . .

Tough night for Wittenberg across the board.  :-\

Thanks for the update.  Now, just because you're a senior and both of your basketball teams have (probably) seen the ends of their seasons, you're not excused from Posting Up duty.  Stick around!  :)

Good to keep you along, jscwittfan!  Thanks for the readout on the women's side of things.

David, Denison is a Pool C for the women regardless??  Allegheny would need to win to make the tourney?  Correct?

Allegheny certainly needs to win to get in; with a loss they're at .692 with a QoWI of 9.192.

Denison benefits from the chance to play Allegheny (.731 if they win) rather than Witt, who would have been at .640 had they won the tournament.  The Big Red already sit at .875 and 10.417 in the latest QoWI run; a loss drops them to .840 and 10.240.  They look like a pretty safe Pool C bet to me.

Great players step it up in the big games.  Denison's all-everything Kristen Sheffield last night scored 12 points, recorded 6 blocked shots, dished 3 assists, and single-handedly outrebounded the entire Kenyon team with a mind-blowing 22 rebounds.  (Kenyon is credited with 29 boards, but 8 of them--5 offensive--are "TEAM" rebounds, whatever they are; probably some missed free throws, airballs, and such.)  She could probably take home the tournament MVP award without suiting up tonight.  Carolyn Simpson and Tammy Hoch contributed 13 and 11 points respectively to the winners, with Hoch adding 4 steals to the tally.

At the other end, Kenyon's Alisha Moreno probably had her worst game of the season last night, misfiring on 9 or 10 three point attempts, and matching her 3 assists with 3 turnovers.  In fact nobody in purple seems to have played well last night, except for a player I've taken a couple of swipes at in here: Anne Dugan.  Dugan kept Kenyon in the game with her career-high 23 points on 8/17 shooting (3/6 from the arc) and was a perfect 4 of 4 on free throws.  Dugan also led the Ladies with 3 steals and 5 rebounds (second only to TEAM's 8 boards.)  Besides Dugan, however, the Ladies were a woeful 8 of 42 shooting (19.0%) from the floor and 2 of 16 (12.5%) from the arc.  Brittany Clair's free throw at 9:00 of the 1st half was the lone point producd by the KC bench on the evening.  I can't say I'm sorry I missed this game.  :-\

Box score and play-by-play

Congratulations and best wishes to Kenyon seniors Liz Narducci and Amy Thurber.

Tough draw for Denison, as they get Hope in the first round.  Game will be played at DePauw, who will play Transylvania.

Interesting that both NCAC teams have Transylvania in their little portion of the bracket...

Tough?  I'll say.  Here I was hoping DU would get to host a regional, and instead they have to play a top 10 team, with the #11 team at home on deck should they win.  Tough way to build national credibility.  Go get 'em, Big Red!

Congratulations to Kristen Sheffield, named the NCAC Player of the Year today by vote of the conference head coaches.  Joining Sheffield on the 7-woman first team are (alphabetically) Wittenberg's Katie Gregoreivich, Allegheny's Katie Kestler, Carly Loerhke of Wooster, Rachel Messaros of OWU, Kenyon's Alisha Moreno, and Oberlin's Jessie Oram.  Gregorevich and Moreno are juniors, while the others are seniors.  Loehrke and Sheffield are repeat first-teamers from last year; Sheffield is a four-time all NCAC honoree, as was second-teamer and NCAC scoring champion Cassie Bedard of Hiram.

In all, the selections were led by first-place Denison (4 selections, including POY Sheffield and Coach of the Year Sara Lee) and Wooster, who finished in a fifth-place tie but still garnered four selections, including co-Newcomer of the Year Kym Wenz (sharing the award with Earlham's Shontavia Davis.)

Congratulations to all of these great players (and to Coach Lee as well)!   :)
