Am I missing some information again?
How come the east coast games are way underway at 9:30 am on the west coast?

MonroviaCat is still eating pancakes. Don't choke, but get on that, will ya?
well, ya see, there is a 3 hour time difference DOC. So if the game starts at noon over there, it would start at 9:00 here.   ??? ;) ;D ???  No pancakes today==just cereal and nice bike ride--great weather today, no?

It's halftime by the time I wake up  ;D

This is not a criticism of MUC.  I dislike the system, whomever agreed to it.  Home field advantage is huge, probably even more so in lower divisions like d3.  I don't know what it is but when I played, NAIA, the team that got the 3 home games for the playoffs typically won.  I was a beneficiary of that, and on the visiting side one year.

That seems to be an issue of correlation vs. causation. Does the team win in the playoffs because they are at home? Or does the eventual winner play at home because they are the better team with a better resume?

There are too few games that cross conference or region to determine relative strength.  I'm not talking about games that end up four td blowouts.  I'm talking about those games that are separated by a score.  Home team has an advantage.  Otherwise why would we "reward" "better" teams with the home field.

The NAIA recognized this back in the early 80s.  They had a "bid" system to host.  Basically the team with the deepest pockets got to host.  After recognizing that too many home teams were winning, in 1981, they had a rule that you could only host 2 of the 3 rounds.  Our leaders did not contemplate that if both home teams were 2-0, someone would have to host the 3rd game so we did not even bid to host the quarterfinals.  Defending National Champs, ranked #1, undefeated, we went on the road to the #2 team and lost 19-15.  We may well have lost at home, but home field is an advantage.
