Darn.
feel free to give me some extra points this week.
I'm the one who needs the extra points since I'm the one sitting near the bottom.
yeah but I picked Louisiana and Trine

Didn't most of us pick Trine?

D O.C.

See you all next week LIVE! Perhaps I'll streak.

This game outdid the UMU - ONU on the front page east of the Mississippi loaded poll on the best game to watch.

Why is Redlands #17 and North Central is #6 in the latest D3football.com top 25 poll, 11 places apart, when the Bulldogs beat the Cardinals and both have one loss.  NC's 3-1 record is pumped up by 2 wins against clearly weak teams while Redlands' wins are against a nationally ranked opponent (the aforesaid NC Cardinals) and a respectable opponent (Whitworth).   ::)

And why did bethel only drop 4 spots after losing to an unranked (still) 1-loss team but Wheaton lost to an undefeated and now ranked team but dropped 12 spots?  I guess Polls just don't make sense.  Luckily, we have a playoff-system.  Suck it BCS!

+K for that comment.

There are other things to consider, such as, how good is Thomas More? Because if you want to drop Bethel, you need to raise Thomas More.

For those unfamiliar, here's last year's schedule. Pay close attention to the quality teams they beat and then their loss.

I don't quite follow--Thomas More stayed in the same place and Bethel is behind them by one spot---why not drop Bethel down behind a few more unbeatens like Kean (and how does Wesley jump from 11 to 7 while Kean stays put at 10???), Montclair St., and Wabash.  And why take Wheaton from #7 to #19 when there are at least a few other 1 loss teams that lost to other 1 loss teams ahead of them.  I know it is complicated and I know it is not decided by one or a few people but a group of what, 25(?) but I still don't understand how two unbeaten teams lose 1 game and have quite a dramatic difference in their position change....I don't really care about either of these teams but did think it was a bit odd.  In the end, all that really matters is the Stagg Bowl anyway!

What did Kean do last week to merit being moved up? How good is Montclair? Who has Wabash played?

Well--Kean won against a team that had not previously lost.  Montclair and Wabash both won and reamined undefeated.  Bethel lost to the only decent team the've played so far this year (I think their other 3 opponents have 3 wins combined) and the team that beat them didn't even crack the top 25.  So how good is Bethel?  And what did your intial comment about Thomas More have to do with any of this?  But I think I understand your point Pat--it's not who you lose to, it's who you beat, it's too early in the season to really know which teams are for real and people consider a lot of different things when making their poll selections.  I just always find it interesting how those selections turn out.

Just because TCNJ was undefeated doesn't mean they're that good. Did you look at who TCNJ has played? Our voters do.

Thomas More and Bethel are adjacent on a lot of ballots, MonroviaCat. It's certainly relevant, even though Bethel ends up behind them in total points.

Yes--I did look at who TCNJ played and they had one less win (combined) then the teams that Bethel defeated.  But whatever, Pat Coleman, you know more about how this stuff works and certainly know more about the D3 as a whole.  Obviously, my inital comment that polls don't make sense was a foolish, off-the cuff remark.  I retract the entire statement except for the part about "suck it BCS".  There, happy, Mr. Guru?   :o  Oh--you could have just told me Keith was writing an article explaining the complexity of the polls--- ;)
