We'll give game ball to the defensive CAST.
or the kicker.....4 FGS and improved kickoffs

Wind aided*
sure---but the Defense gave up a TD when they were aided by the wind.....
Go Cats!

D O.C.

I'll wager Coach Vaughn is still saying some choice tidbits on the field, beginning with play the WHOLE game.

Gf has two quality losses and deserves consideration if they run table and Linfield wins out with AQ. If that happened it would be nice to send SCIAC sacrifice to South Region UMHB.. and let Fox and Linfield go at it with hopefully decent weather in Western type bracket.

and then CalCat woke up from his dream  ;)

I don't think they even make the regional rankings because these teams will all likely be ahead of them in the West..... OshKosh, Wartburg, Platteville, Linfield, St. Thomas, St. Johns,

Granted 4 of those teams will go Pool A, but you'll still have Plateville and St. Johns likely ahead of them.....
Go Cats!

Like l said MC it would be nice...just think if GF had played say a Chapman and won intstead of UWP and had a 12-7 loss to Linfield as only loss...always the big question of early season schedules against tough competition...and MC you know l am just trying to figure out how not to make a trip to Abilene again.

Of course....I think this year they could flip the script and send HSU to McMinnville.  The MHB games were more comparable than last season.....of course they could get cheap and force HSU and MHB to play in round 1 and send us Chapman (or whoever comes out of the SCIAC Circus).  But I don't think GF gets a chance unless something drastic happens to Plateville or St. Johns......but Plateville has a pretty brutral remainder of their WIAC schedule so the door is still cracked open I guess
Go Cats!

George Fox headlines talk about being the only ones to score a TD and more fans than Linfield?

As I was saying.....

I'm equally entertained by their website football summaries constructed in a manner that sounds like a Central European writing a spam e-mail fishing for someone to wire them money, promising to pay it back double:

"The weather wasn't kind for the top-25 showdown Saturday afternoon, as the No. 19 George Fox Bruins and the No. 7 Linfield Wildcats went to battle in a rain-soaked game. The Bruins held the 'Cats to the fewest points they've scored against George Fox in a 12-6 loss.

The nonstop rain and wind kept both teams on the ground for most of the day, as fans enjoyed a top-25 defensive matchup. The Bruins were quick to showcase their high powered defense, forcing the 'Cats to a three-and-out in their first possession.

It was a tough go of it for offense, as the teams combined for 58 yards in the first quarter. Fans watched as the game was clear to be a defensive showdown with neither team giving an inch. The passing game was also nonexistent for both teams, as fans watched a combined six passing attempts after 15 minutes of play."

For what it's worth, Saturday's 12 points wasn't the fewest George Fox has allowed Linfield. The Bruins have shut out the Wildcats four times.

Of course, the last one was in 1898 ...

Gray Fox

catjumper,

I remember when Oxy actually played games, they once had onc with CLU that was very similar and muddy.

Gray Fox -

My standard for that type of game was in 1984: Linfield 2, Pacific 0 at Maxwell Field in a steady rain on a field of absolute slop. Each team punted about a dozen times; the 'Cats downed one on the Boxers' 2 and somebody missed a block on the next play, leading to a tackle in the end zone. And that was one of Linfield's teams that went on to win a national title.

Also, I think CLU fans with long memories recall something about muddy games in McMinnville, as well.

PLU at Pacific in '83 was a mud fest. Don't remember the score but we won, made the playoffs and went on a run only to lose the National Championship.
