Ah, the refs just got to get involved. Hop 91 yard kick-off return. Ref throws a flag for block in the back at the 8 yard line. The 'offender' did a terrific job of staying with the play for 40 yards shielding Union players, got pushed in the back about the 10 yard line, going down he fell on a UMU player.
Poor call.

JHU misses a field goal after the big return. First play for Mount the ball is knocked out of Fulford's hand and returned for a TD. Mount blocks the PAT.

I think that last Mount defender did a smart thing. He realized he wasn't able to stop the returner and when Hopkins #3 fell (I don't think he was trying to block the legs), The Mount guy fell over #3's body and went to the turf, though I don't think #3 got enough of him to actually get him down to the turf.  It sucked that it was called, but I think the ref had to make the call.

I don't disagree. #3 gets pushed over into the other Mount guy who made a smart play by falling over him. Ref could have let it go, but the game was at Mount - I think that had something to do with it.
