Can't help but feel bad for Hamline. Bunch of my cousins have gone there. For many years had a really solid program. Between '83 and '94 Hamline was 5-7 against the Johnnies. Beat them in that '94 Homecoming game, snapping a long home winning streak. And in '96 Ramler rallied the Johnnies in the final minute. My cousin's husband was the star running back for Hamline then. Since then? Yikes. And the last few years just a total collapse of the program.

It's not all that dissimilar to Macalester, who won most of the MIAC championships across all sports in the 1950s.
That was a fun little factoid from head SJU track & field coach Tim Miles some years back.

I guess some universities just shifted their priorities.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

And to think they were a successful D-1 (or the equivalent) basketball school at one time.

Yeah no kidding. It's fun reading about those old hoops teams of theirs.

Kind of a bummer with the nice new facilities they have there. I like their campus.

Maybe it's the Midway Motel in the background, providing a somewhat seedy element.

Two years ago I was taking pictures when their AD chased me off their sideline (well, I was in the corner of the end zone, but on their side).  It was freezing, blowing a little sleet, and most of the folks in the stands had been chased down inside for warmth, yet their AD thought he needed to stop some guy from taking pictures.  He should have thanked me for showing up.  So I have no truck for Hamline.  Pffffttt.

28-0 BU heading into the half at the dome...a bit of a yawner.

Sad to see the season wrapping up...seems like it was just mid august and camps were starting...

Maybe he thought you were a Hamline fan and wanting to save you from watching the horror show?

Haven't been able to say that much this year.

Would be nice to see Bethel or STO get into the playoffs.  Maybe if the UMAC hadn't received an auto bid this year.  Guess the Royals can't complain given the collapse at Northfield.  Too bad for that.

Funny, he seemed to know I was a SJU parent - probably because no one from Hamline would have wanted to take pictures of it.

Like last year-4 game winning streak (If SJU holds on) just like last year-but hopefully more momentum going into next year.
