If the human brain were so simple that we could fully understand it...we would be so simple that we couldn't.

Royals taking knees. Congrats to coach Johnson as BU upends the Cobbers 31-14

Surprised the second team offense was not on the field. Looks like the defensive reserves are in, or at least some. I assume we won't see Syverson et. al. any more.

Retired Old Rat

Looks like the Johnnies are heading up 94 next Saturday.

I don't think I've seen Joe Akoh today. Any idea why he is not playing?

He has been playing, just very nonexistent

Seriously, the penalties need to be addressed.  Unreal.

Don't be critical...they're just kids.
I'm kidding btw.

St John's repeats their 49-10 win in Northfield last season with the identical score this season!

I get those that say they're just kids. There's no need to get personal or anything like that--because some of the criticism can be over the top. But, we are also allowed to objectively say that there is a notable gap between this team and teams of the past when it comes to on-field discipline and committing penalties.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

First time poster long time reader! Interesting stats on penalties. It seems by looking at NCAA team stats, the worst teams in the country are some of the least penalized. Best teams are penalized more. North Central, UWRF, Linfield, Hardin Simmons, UWL, Trinity all have more penalties per game than SJU. Out of the 50 best teams in the country when it comes to penalties per game, there are ZERO top 25 teams.

My guess is the best teams are also the most aggressive and physical. There may also be some of a pity factor from referees. Obviously the dumb penalties need to stop for SJU, but some PI/Holding/Roughing the Passer are going to happen when you play physical.

I think the point is this deviates from the norm.  We have come to expect the Johnnies to be more disciplined.

The only MIAC teams penalized more than SJU are Carleton and St. Olaf. We give up 59 yards a game in penalties. I believe a roughing the passer was called on the final GAC scoring drive. Really, really good teams can get away with a few extra penalties. We've been undisciplined this year and it caught up with us against GAC. If we are able to make the playoffs we can't give our opponent any free yards.
