Great for Tucker to get an opportunity at the next level.  Now I have a reason to watch the CFL.

Ron Boerger

What I heard today is that he's signed a contract but won't be with the team until next season.  Apparently that's not unusual for the CFL.

D3Navy

Confirmed at the TU game yesterday that he'll report in the spring.

D3Navy

Trinity turned some things around yesterday.

I think the biggest difference was emphasis on the run.  In the previous game against Centre they threw the ball 65% of the time achieving a sub-50% completion rate.  Yesterday against Sewanee, they RAN the ball 63% of plays.  Tripled rushing yards gained and achieved a 70% completion rate passing.

They've had success when they run and struggled when they've emphasized the pass.

Their offensive line is terrific, and the coaches seem to have realized this.  Add in the stable of seasoned RBs and they should remain potent the rest of the season as long as they keep the emphasis on the run.

Particularly look to Huerta on short yardage, and freshman Maddox Morkovsky was impressive yesterday.  Listed as a TE but was a beefy FB presence.

Now what to do about the secondary...

Not sure why Huerta doesn't get more playing time. Announcers all season (including Trinity's yesterday) seemed either confused/amused that he is listed on Trinity's roster as an LB, but is routinely in the game as an RB. I'm not sure why he's listed as an LB either, but a quick google search would let everyone know that the kid was a pretty good RB at 6-A John Jay High School in San Antonio. Transferred to Trinity after a year at Columbia. Have been saying all year I'd like to see him and Milo get more touches, but its hard to do so when Hutchinson and Grigsby are both averaging over 6 yards a carry.

I'm glad Urban/Back have finally figured out a way to work WR Taverez into the offense. Another great SA high school player that got some D1 looks. He has been a welcome offensive burst the last two games after all the WR losses.

Secondary looks routinely lost out there. Looked okay first half but never really got challenged. Second half - yikes. Good teams will continue to torch them.

D3Navy

Milo between the 20s and outside the tackles.

Ron Boerger

The Trinity "secondary" gives up another 70-yard TD bomb.  WTAF guys.

Ron Boerger

Alex Tavares has been quite the find these last few games.

Ron Boerger

And a much more tightly played second half makes for an easy win.  Still work to be done with Berry in town next weekend.

D3Navy

Dominating line play and some rare offensive creativity.

Solid outing should provide some momentum for next week.

From the front page...

QuoteConor Babin drilled a 46-yard field goal with two seconds left to lift Millsaps to a 17-14 win at Southwestern, improving the Majors to 4-2, 2-1 in SAA play.

There are some SEC schools who could use a FG kicker who can make a 46-yarder!

Better watch it or the Arizona State coach might come get him for this week.

Not sure why Urban went with fake there. Just line up and run it.
