Yeah, the defense really kept us in the game despite all the offensive miscues until they just got worn down on that last drive.   We could have still won it if we'd gotten a break or two along the way, but it didn't happen and credit the Cru for changing their offensive game plan in the second half to focus on the run.  But getting into the playoffs was a bonus, and a lot of the guys on the field today will be back next year.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but here's a comparison of Cade Rabson's performance with the SAA DPOY in their loss:

SAA DPOY:  4 tackles (2 solo), 0.5 TFL (1 yard)
Rabson:  15 tackles (7 solo), 2.5 TFL (6 yds), 0.5 sack (1 yd), 1 QBH, 1 INT (18 yards)

A shout out to both Rabson and James Ogunrin; in his last game, the Katy LB also had an outstanding game with 15 tackles (5 solo) and 0.5 TFL (1 yard).   They will both be missed next year.

Not here for a pissing match but Rabson not winning the DPOTY award is like leaving John Wayne out of the conversation for best actor in western movies. The kid dominated all year and played a huge game today. Outside of Soecial Team blunders Trinity is giving HSU hell next week.

Good job to all the other players, but the fact Cade didn't get the award is BS. Maybe I'm a fan ~ Homer, whoooooo cares cause his stats back it up. His play is even better. He will go down in the history books for his STs play in his blocks. The fact he didn't get the award is a null point pint now , but he kept the game a one possession game. Loved watching him play I his first year starting after Harmel graduated.

I understand that Whitten is a DB/Safety and that comes with "stats" that aren't reflected (aka, great coverage that probably results in no pass even in their direction to lead to PBU), but this one is a head-scratcher for me.

A DB with no INTs and fewer PBUs than a LB.

I know right? The only Berry player even on the NCAA national PBU rankings is Whitten's teammate, Kristofer Thomas, who is ranked 182. Would appreciate some input from a coach or Berry fan to provide some insight here. Again, I know CB/Safety are thankless positions so I am not dismissing that fact; just hard to rationalize from a purely statistical standpoint.

Unrelated - randomly watching Texas A&M/Auburn game late and they are focusing on kicker, Ian Vachon, who broadcast noted transferred from BSC after they shut down. #1, had absolutely no idea who he was; #2, freaking awesome - you still have something to cheer for @BSCpanthers!; #3 hope he gets a shot to win this (as much as I'd love the A&M comeback)

Vachon ties the game at 31 on a 29 yd FG. Overtime.

Rabson played with purpose today against UMHB:

15 Tackles (8 solo), 2.5 TFL, .5 sacks, and an interception.

I had the chance to speak with his family briefly and express my admiration for his skill and work ethic.  Fine people who raised a fine young man.

Vachon kicks the extra point for Auburn in OT. 38-all, and then a 41-yd FG in 2nd OT.

Love it. Some brightness for SAA on an otherwise tough day

BSCpanthers

Ian is a good kid with a great family.  Tailgated with them the last two season at BSC.  He was our starting kicker last season, and struggled a bit on FG's.  He was never given an opportunity to win us the game at Centre for our last game and no one in the stands was happy with that coaching decision.  It has been a lot of fun the last two weeks watching him succeed at Auburn, he has a very proud Momma right now.   ;D

Game winning FG in Jordan-Hare.
What a night! Happy for him

I guess Auburn had the 14th best starting QB in the SEC

crufootball

Curious to hear what the Trinity fans think would have happened if Trinity drove the field at the end of the game. Do they go for the tie or the win?

Ron Boerger

Given the problems they had in the kicking game (2 missed/blocked PATs for the first time all season and the botched FG attempt) and the difficulty they had stopping the Cru rushing attack in the second half, probably go for two at home.

D3Navy

I imagine they would have gone for the win.  When Dr. Jekyll UMHB focused, they methodically drove down the field and scored (beginning of the 2nd half, game-winning drive).  Trinity couldn't stop them in that mode so would have avoided it by going for the win.  In my humble opinion.
