Mostly I am interested in people's perception of how D3 football has changed over the past 10 years from both on the field and off the field.

I would also like to know how many more or how many fewer D3 teams there are for the upcoming year as compared to 2001.

FAQ #17 has your answer.

I think that Colorado College, Swarthmore and Principia and Blackburn are the only schools to drop football.

McMurry will move to D-II.

Those are the only schools that I can name that will not be in D-III.

Thanks for remembering NJCU.

i am unsure but i spect there are at least a few more D-3 football now than in 2001. Just around here, Huntingdon, LaGrange, BCS, new programs popping up at Rome and possibly Oglethorpe (?), and that is just between Bamma and Jawja

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

- In 2001 you could almost pencil in one team to make the Stagg Bowl each year. Now, in 2011, there's almost two teams you can pencil in. Not sure how long that will last though.

- The emergence of UWW, NCC, UST

- The decline of UWL, Bridgewater, Rowan, St. Johns(?)

For Pep, D3 football seems to be much more competitive now than in 2001. More intensity...players working harder to become bigger, stronger and faster. There doesn't seem to be an "off-season" for those football players who aspire to take their level of play to new heights.

But of course the biggest difference for Pep is that Alfred has also become more competitive over the course of the last decade, rising from the mediocrity of .500 seasons early in the millennium to eight straight seasons of post-season play.

The band has also raised the bar, to the tune of playing the "On Saxon Warriors" fight song more than ever! Pep will never forget the comment he heard second hand from a young fan of SUNY Maritime during halftime of the Privateers' NCAA Playoff appearance at Merrill Field in November 2010. AU Pep Band traditionally plays the Saxon fight song, sings it, then plays it again after every AU score. With AU rolling to a 50-0 halftime lead, the kid was heard to have said, "That's not a very good band. They only know one song and it's one I've never heard before."

On Saxon Warriors!
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!
