Carls win 4-1. Impressive win in some bad conditions.

Any word on the Olaf-Cobbers game? MIAC and Concordia website say CON won 2-0, but Olaf website says they won 2-0. And no site has a box score...

MIAC matches this weekend:

St. Olaf @ Concordia: Prediction 2-0 St. Olaf

SMU @ UST: Prediction 3-1 UST

CarlEton @ Bethel: Prediction 2-0 CarlE's

GAC @ SJU: Prediction 2-1 GAC

Augsburg @ MAC: Prediction 1-0 Augsburg

A bit conservative on the GAC prediction huh!
I watched most of the MAC v AUG pretty well matched up between the 18's.  I turned it off 2 min before MAC scored, must have been a flurry the last 2 minutes trying to get the equalizer.

No real surprises over the weekend, but I guess MIAC games are starting to happen during the week.....on Tuesdays? Usually the Tuesday games happen towards the end of the year. Predictions with Non-conference games first.

Non-conference:

Northwestern @ Carleton: 0:5 Carleton

Bethany Lutheran @ STO: 0:1000000 STO

Tuesday:

Thomas @ Bethel: 3-0 Thomas

SJU @ Mac: 1-2 Mac

Wed:

Concordia @ Augsburg: 0:2 Augsburg

GAC @ SMU: 3:0 GAC

My GAC prediction was off a bit from the weekend.  0-0 score at the half then a 4 goal outburst by the Gusties in the second half.  Hopefully GAC can continue to finish their chances as the season progresses.

UST crushed Bethel 7-1:  I expected this result, just not this scoreline.

SJU beats MAC 1-0: SJU keeps their MIAC playoff hopes alive with a win against fellow bubble team MAC.  Big win away from home for SJU.

Augsburg over Concordia 4-1:  Surprise result of the week for me.  Concordia has been keeping most games close so it looks like the Auggies made the most of their chances.

GAC 3-1 winners over SMU: Sendelbach from GAC has been on a rampage lately with four goals in his last four games.  He had only scored two goals in the previous three seasons.  David Lilly and Zach Brown had a goal and an assist each to lead the offensive charge.

Current Standings

Schools     Pts     MIAC     All
Gustavus     12      4-0        7-2-1
St. Thomas  10      3-0-1     8-1-2
St. Olaf         9       3-0        8-1
Augsburg      9       3-1        7-2-1
Carleton       6       2-1         7-1-2
Saint John's  6       2-2        4-5-1
Macalester    4       1-2-1     5-5-1
Bethel           3       1-3        3-6
Concordia     0        0-4       1-8-1
Hamline        0        0-2       3-5
Saint Mary's  0        0-4       3-6-1

Weekend games:

SMU @ Concordia: 2-0 Cobbers

Hamline @ UST: 3-0 UST

SJU @ CarlEton: 1-0 CarlEton

MAC @ Bethel: 2-1 MAC

St. Olaf @ GAC: 3-1 GAC   The Oles have a great attack but are suspect in the back.  If GAC can control the midfield they will win this game.

Non-conference: Augsburg 0 @ UWO 2

Weekend games:

SMU @ Concordia: 1-0 Cobbers...Concordia should win this one.

Hamline @ UST: 2-0 UST - Hammies keep it close through the first half, but UST comes out blazing in the 2nd.

SJU @ CarlEton: 2-0 CarlEton - Should be an easy win at home for the CarlE's.

MAC @ Bethel: 1-0 MAC - MAC squeeks by Bethel.

St. Olaf @ GAC: 2-1 GAC   - Easily the most exciting matchup on the weekend. GAC comes on top at home.

It's been a pretty quiet season on the boards thus far. Not too much bickering or back and forth.

SMU @ Concordia: 0-2 Long drive for SMU

Hamline @ UST: 0-2 Easy win for UST

SJU @ CarlEton: 0-1 Rematch of last years playoff semi

MAC @ Bethel:  3-1 Everyone keeps scoring on Bethel

St. Olaf @ GAC: 1-2 Home field gets the win. Probably going to be really really windy

gustiefan04

Gustavus with the 2-1 win over St. Olaf. GAC gave up a PK early in the 2nd half, giving the Ole's the equalizer. Zach Brown Band with the GW shortly after. Gustavus had some great stretches holding possession. Olaf looked dangerous at times as well. Next weekends match against St. Thomas is a big one for the Gusties.

Caught the OT periods of CarlEton and St. Johns. OT was pretty even, althought the CarlE's outshot the Johnnies pretty signicantly in the final stats. 1-1 draw was certainly not the result either of these teams needed. Looks like the Knights run as regular season champs could be coming to an end...

BradleyFan001

The St.Thomas result was also a little interesting. Everyone predicted a win for UST. At this point, GAC is running away with the league. They don't have the easiest of schedules left but most of the opponents are home games.

I think GAC will clinch (before the last game) , so the real story is who is going to claim the next three spots. 6 teams have a chance to break into the top 4.

The johnnies and MAC will probably start to drop out in the next two weeks leaving the race between Carleton,Olaf,St Thomas, And Augsburg.

Carleton has to play all of them before the end of the season (All away). It's do or die time now for the knights. Wins over St Thomas and Augsburg would do a lot for their playoff picture.

gustiefan04

I was pretty surprised by the UST result against Hamline. Thought for sure the Thommies would get a win over Hamline.

GAC definitely controls their own fate. If they continue play to their potential, they should have an undefeated conference season (knock on wood). I have yet to see St. Thomas play, but from what I've seen of the other MIAC schools, GAC should be able to take care of business.

gustiefan04

What are the chances that UST has video or live stats for Saturday's game vs. Gustavus? I couldn't find anything on their match last weekend...

KnightRider23

A little midweek action, both in the MIAC and a few non-conference tilts.

Stoles 3 Hamline 0: Skrip with a brace. No Rosenthal in the line up against GAC. Wonder how serious it is...

Loras 5 St. Mary's 1: Not the best time to play Iowa's finest. St. Mary's scores a consolation goal at the end.

Carls 1 Luther 1: Should be a tight contest. Knights need to start winning games to have a remote shot at a post-season bid. Bartholomay scores and battles McGarrity for leading goal scorer for the rest of the season.

Gustiefan, I'd say live stats is probably asking too much of UST. Their soccer coverage is pretty atrocious, especially when you consider they had instant replays for their football game against the caRlIes last weekend. I guess there's money to spend for a turf field but not a decent live broadcast. Shame.
