Looks like a major coaching change at Wheaton (IL) after the 2014 season. I have to believe the list of potential replacements will be long to fill this position. Anyone care to speculate on who the candidates might be?

Wowza. Didn't see that one coming. Can the Wheaton team repeat their send off for Coach G as they did for Coach Bean back in 2006?

Definitely a long list of candidates and although Guiliano himself would prove this notion wrong given he is not an alum, programs like this tend to prefer keeping it "in house" with an alum. Ryan Souders comes to mind as a good young coach at Calvin who is an alum of the program. As well as Jake DeClute who was the head coach at Gordon for a little while before stepping down to be an assistant for the Vancouver Whitecaps. Anyone know where he is right now? After Martin Rennie was fired in VAN the whole coaching staff was let go as well I believe.

Other thoughts?

I think the big decision is do they hire within the Wheaton/Christian family or will they consider successful head coaches that throw their hat in the ring? After all, Wheaton is a tremendous soccer job at D3 with the tradition, facilities, and location. I'm certain there will be some highly qualified coaches who see this as a chance to chase some national titles.

Southern Vermont College seems to be looking for a new head coach as well... http://www.svcathletics.com/sports/msoc/coaches/index

What about Phil Wolf at Point Loma (NAIA)? He played at Wheaton and was also an assistant there in the late 90s. Coached Azusa Pacific to national title in 2007.

If the rumors swirling are true, Aurora has made a hire and there will be another HC position open very soon...

That is a crazy story, he was dating the boy's mother at the time. I wonder what evidence they have against him.

Ryan Lakin has left Illinois Wesleyan to take the Aurora job.

Seems like a good fit to me. Any idea on who may be in play at Illinois Wesleyan???

Chris Bergman from Lake Forest or Matt Edwards from Knox might like the step up to CCIW?

Any update on the opening at IL Wesleyan?

It doesn't seem like IWU is in a hurry. Their release about Lakin leaving was pretty much he's leaving, read Aurora's website.

Usually when a position opens, the AD will take a couple minutes to talk about what departing coach brought to the program, what the plans are moving forward, and that a national search has started... their release says nothing. I wonder if they just have sub-standard sports information practices or if the department even cares.

That being said, who are the candidates linked to IWU/central IL soccer? And who would be interested in interviewing for this job in June with a pre-season start 2 months away? Maybe former EIU Coach Howarth who was let go after the 2013 season? Chad Jones from Millikin? Any of the Midwest Conference coaches in the area have a resume that could get them to this CCIW program?
