Hobart-William Smith Women's team plays Emory in the National Final Four this weekend out in Las Vegas. This is their 12th Final Four appearance. Coach Wilber is in her 44th season, amazing. She has built an incredible program in Geneva!

Sounds like SC has a new interview target!

QuoteThe Ithaca College athletic department announced today that Garret Eldridge has resigned as the head coach of the men's soccer program. Assistant coach Nick Calo will be the point of contact for the program as an immediate national search will take place.

"I want to thank Garret Eldridge for his six years of commitment to Ithaca College men's soccer as an assistant and then as the head coach over these past four seasons," said Associate Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Susan Bassett '79. "Coach Eldridge was part of some highly successful campaigns.  We wish him all the best in the next phase of his career."

Eldridge led the Bombers for the past four seasons including through the COVID-19 pandemic. His time with Ithaca included two years as an assistant where he had a six-year combined record of 53-36-25, which included being the Liberty League Championship runner-up in 2018, 2021 and 2023. His time as head coach included two Liberty League Championship appearances, including a 16-12-8 record against Liberty League opponents.

"It was a tremendous honor to be a part of Ithaca College men's soccer over the past six seasons," said Eldridge. "I look forward to watching the continued success of the program over the coming years as I plan to pursue a new coaching challenge."

A national search for a new leader for the program is underway.

Not saying where he is going or if he is leaving the game.... any ideas?  I enjoyed my conversations with him....

Another coaching change at Clarkson. Two current Liberty League openings at Clarkson and Ithaca.

I get why they don't, but Clarkson could benefit immensely from an athletic facility investment. They get decent to good athletes as is just from the school profile, but a facility upgrade would do them wonders not just from a player aspect but also to keep coaches longer than a few years.

Clarkson is slowly trying to improve its facilities.  They broke ground on a fairly substantial project (at least for Clarkson) to upgrade the facilities at Walker Arena (old hockey arena that houses the support facilities for Hantz field) which includes the locker rooms, laundry, trainer and I believe weight room.  They are also working on replacing the aging turf, but nothing concrete yet.

Rumor is the open position won't be open for very long....

I hope part of the renovation in Walker is the HVAC system in the bathrooms lol.  Was in there last spring before the SLU-Clarkson lax game, and let me tell you, I've never been in a bathroom that was as hot and humid as that one in my whole life.

You know it is the offseason when the conversation is about clarkson's bathroom temp and humidity.

Carter Lincoln back at Clarkson. This was my hunch from the start, then heard it through my very loosely connected local grapevine but couldn't be 100% sure. CU Knight seemed to be ITK from the start as Clarkson did end up making quick work of it.  But now it's official.  Happy for the Knights.

I don't think it was a very well held secret that Carter would return, rumor has it he was observing at last weekends ID camp.  I do think it would be a great SimpleCoach interview.  Carter has been an assistant at two of the last three D1 National Champions (Syracuse and Vermont) although not when they won the title.  It would also be interesting to get the perspective of if being a D3 head coach is a step up or down the ladder from being a D1 assistant.

I'm excited for the Clarkson team as I would consider next years seniors to be his best class from his first run and it would be great to see them finish their careers playing in the post season.

First SLU commit for next year is a goalkeeper, Zach Amato from the Brooks School in North Andover MA.

I missed it at the time but Jeremy Ogango from SLU was in the transfer portal in early December. Don't know what came of it, if anything as he's still on campus. Though that doesn't necessarily mean anything for next year. I believe it is/was an attempt to level up.

I like Jeremy.
He is a class player.
Honestly, can't say I blame him for attempting to improve his football enviornment and perhaps playing football in a more diverse team. Not the same vibe/talent level that existed between 94-2015.

kevdog

If he does transfer he is going to be missed. I thought he was missed last year but best of luck to him if this does happen.
