With conference play underway, as West teams are squaring off against each other, it looks like the voting is becoming less erratic and more uniform. For the first time all year we all agree the top 7 teams in the poll all belong in the top 10 (top 8 actually for that matter this week).

Also, that 10th spot seems to be a coin flip between numerous teams. As seven different teams were listed in the 10th spot.

Huge game in SCIAC between CLU and Chapman.  Winner likely wins SCIAC, although Redlands might argue.  If CLU beat Chapman Saturday night, they will likely be undefeated going into the last conference game against Redlands, which should also be a HUGE game.

I'm curious on the reasoning someone had to put both Central and, most likely, Bethel ahead of St John's who they put fifth.  Whoever it is, I sure hope we meet Central in the post-season... ;)

FWIW - as a pollster, it is my opinion that positions 1 and 2 are pretty much locked up unless either team is upset.

The last 3 are a draw at this point, partly because of the same reasoning for the middle five - that there are not many reference points where two teams have played a third team so you can try to "stack them up" against one another. There are a few, but the West Coast teams have fewer, if any, with the rest of the teams. I've been hesitant to put much confidence in Linfield because of the lack of cross-play. Historically, they have been a good team - but I am probably not alone in the desire to see more early season long road trips. Sigh. (I'm pretty sure that the coaching staffs of any teams do not value any input I might have on this poll.)  ;D

Opinions poll gazing maybe.
A Division II school not equal to early season road trip?
Sure, I'd have liked to play Central or Bethel away first game.

Yeah ... about that. Maybe it's bias giving the last decade plus of MIAC v. IIAC postseason results. But the class of the MIAC has been better than the class of the IIAC for quite a while. I think Central is a good team. But there's nothing to suggest they're better than SJU, or even Bethel for that matter.

I'm happy to say that no one had Bethel ahead of St. John's.... So everyone recognized the H2H result. However, as you saw by the above results, yes someone has SJU 5th (with Bethel 6th).

I'll let him go into detail on his reasoning. I think he even touched on it last week in this thread. All though his intentions were kind of murky.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I am not a voter, but my guess is that they put UW-L and Central ahead of St. John's, not Bethel.
