USee. Don't disagree with you on any of this. The only thing that can help UST v ML (besides common sense) is the common opponent in GAC. Not sure that it will, but it seems like a data point to at least discuss. But wouldn't be shocked to see ML still there and UST unranked.

@Pat

Could you ask the chair if they ever consider common opponents? Also, if they are viewing Monmouths SOS with an asterisk because of Grinnell or not? The latter seems particularly relevant.

Common opponent is listed as a primary criteria so it should be relevant. Again, the Monmouth criteria hurts STT here and ML is a bit of a bail out to having to decide that. Its easier to rationalize Win % as a differentiator.

PS. And another thing I did in my last ballot was put Linfield ahead of Redlands, because it is my opinion that if they played this Saturday, the results would be different, because Linfield has "grown" more that the Bulldogs have through the season. I know, it's such a travesty what I have done...

Lol. Redlands punched Linfield in the mouth and thoroughly dominated them. Linfield had negative 14 yards rushing on the night. The score indicates a closer game, but it was not. Redlands and Chapman without a doubt have owned the top NWC teams this season.

Come playoff time the NWC WILL SHINE In So. Cal :-*

Time for Linfield to visit Belton, TX for once in the first round. The SCIAC champion routinely gets sent there, so no reason for the NWC to avoid that fate.

Hard to believe the NCAA won't be booking a Linfield at Chapman 1st round game. IMO

I agree with you. Much gets said about the SCIAC's playoff record, but how would the other conferences fare getting sent so often to UMHB for a first round matchup? It's not all of the SCIAC's playoff record, but most teams will struggle getting a win there. Here is what I would like to see possibly.

Linfield at UMHB
Redlands (if selected) at WIAC or MIAC champion
Iowa champion at Chapman

Fixed it for you  ;D

While it's confusing and challenging to rank the 10th spot in the West right now, the good news is there is a huge game in week 11 that will provide (hopefully) clarity.

If Chapman and Redlands are in the top 5 in the West, I'm going to screenshot the rankings.

Ha! Nobody's been at least slightly above average for longer  ;) (I jest, I'd celebrate the steak too, especially if my program had numerous national titles on the resume too, like Linfield does.)

SCIAC schools have only lost to UMHB four times in the last 16 years of D3 playoffs (granted, four of the last seven years), the NWC has ousted them on 10 separate occasions (twice in the last five and five in the last 10). Not saying playing UMHB hasn't essentially been a season ending sentence, but the SCIAC hasn't put up a fight in the playoffs since Cal LU vs Linfield in 2011 (Linfield won 30-27). Prior to that, 2004 was the last time a California team wasn't blown out in the first round.
That being said, this could easily be the year the SCIAC makes a splash.

And how many first round away games for the NWC? You raise good counterpoints, but the SCIAC rarely gets a home game in the first round. If my memory serves me correctly, the SCIAC has had two home playoff games since 2004.

Cal Lu hosted North Central in 2013 I believe and lost. Redlands beat that same North Central team at Redlands earlier in the season. Oxy hosted Willamette in 2004 and beat them, and then went on the road and beat Concordia Moorhead. They lost to a loaded Linfield team in the West final (or semifinal, can't remember).
