Aw man, I honestly thought the Bear was making up quotes here, but no.  Those are actually things said by their AD and written by their journos.

It's really unfortunate that the rhetoric from the people in charge down there insists on perpetuating an overly hostile context around this game that hasn't really existed for 15 years.

"Within Blackstock Stadium, crowd control fences are riddled throughout as well as the additional 650 seats."

650 extra seats?  Really?  Didn't blackstock get renovated not that long ago and that is the best they can do?

Thought that was weird, also.  That has to be a misprint.  I think the new and "improved" Blackstock Stadium holds 3,000.  So what's the typo here?  Could be 6500 extra, but that sounds like more people than they usually let in- 8000 is about their max, give or take a couple hundred.  So I don't know what it's supposed to be, but 650 can't be right.  Gonna need a bigger boat than that.

The published capacity on their D3 football page is 4000. The DPU website ( http://www.depauwtigers.com/facilities/Blackstock_Stadium) lists capacity at 3000 for the home stands.  My guess is that there is a "zero" missing from the 650.  Total seating for around 9000 to 10000 would be about right.

My understanding based on previous comments on this board is that the Dannies don't sell SRO tix - in theory there is a seat for each ticket they provide to Wabash.

The NCAA attendance info sheet lists their capacity as 3350.

I remember the old days when fans of both teams would meet during the game behind the endzones to exchange pleasantries.  That 1979 game many of us sat in the West stands.  Thank God Dave Kennedy returned that KO.  Wabash O had been doing nothing till then.  Some local Greendingle kid stole my hat.   I couldn't do anything about it because I was in the West stands and I already spent time in the Putnam County Hoosegow the year before, and Dean Moore said "Every Wabash man is entitled to one run in with the law" so I had used up my quota.

The 1979 CBS Sunday Morning feature on the bell game.  Hadn't seen this in a while.  Remember Joe O'Rourke showing a video of this in speech class.

Kudos to DPU for the Monon Bell section of their football site. The Monon Memories for every year of the rivalry is really good stuff. Great to look back and remember...both the good and the not so much.

It's nice that you have video memories so you can remember what the Bell looks like.

When I was at DePauw, we never lost one. I know exactly what it looks like.

Monon Bell game with both teams ranked achievement unlocked.
DePauw squeaks in at #25 in the AFCA poll. Wabash moves up to #7.

Fun clip from a more recent vintage.  DePauw is allergic to touchdowns.
