Just FYI Carthage changed from the "Redmen" with a logo that had a feather connotation to a Native American headdress, to the "Red Men" referring to their uniform color and changed their logo.
It helped - they just took the lead at ONU 2-1
3-2 Carthage...have no idea how much time is left. No sound no time  :P

Duhawks v Red Men @ Rock Bowl, 1pm CT

Good luck to the Bowdoin men's soccer team in the NCAA tournament.

GoUBears!!

Fantastic way to start the NCAA Tournament for UMASS Boston.

I agree with the players but you cannot go about disagreeing with Twellman like that.

I tweeted as well but wasn't as harsh. I think mine was like "And the US Youth Program(already behind) takes a shot and it goes out for a throw in!#Embarrassing". Now back to the tournament. Anyone think one of the bye teams can get upset after watching yesterdays matches?

"The school says the players will face some type of disciplinary action that has not been announced yet..." doubt they will miss any NCAA tournament games.

I also agree that if people don't want concussions then don't play the game or avoid using your head. But you can get a concussion in any sport and I would like to see if it is more likely that one would get a concussion in soccer compared to football...so are the youth football players going to stop tackling each other too? Gotta teach fundamentals at some point...

Mr.Right

Nah those 3 players are definitely not playing v Scranton. Depending on who the 3 ARE will be a deciding factor in the outcome of the game. UMASS Boston does not have any depth to deal with this type of disaster. I suppose it is a learning moment but let's wait and see who the players are first.

In my limited viewing I thought Carthage looked pretty good.  No idea if they play on turf at home, but getting a game on ONU's turf will be good preparation for Loras.  I don't see Amherst losing, but W&L will be battle-tested after the last few weeks and Haverford's open style of play could lead to a really good game.

Personally I can't stand Twellman, I think he's narcissistic as they come, but you can't do that. Another example of UMASS-Boston's lack of composure I've harped on! ;)

Update: it appears that two of the players have made a combined total of five appearances, so I don't think they'll be too concerned.

Mr.Right

Ahh...Where are we getting who the players are?  Link?

Just went to Twellman's Twitter, it only shows two though. Maybe there's a third lurking out there?

Mr.Right

yea he is an annoyance but man he scored some great goals for the Revs. The ironic thing is his "head" made him such a great goalscorer. He had a knack of getting to where the ball was going and finishing with his head.

yes. But then retired young because of concussions. Concussions have been his pet project for many years, I'm not surprised he's very involved in this issue.

Mr.Right

Ok. Where was he 10 years ago on the issue when he first begun to get them. Exactly. Nowhere because his career depended on it.  Easier to attack the issue now with his playing career over and a stable TV job locked up.

Well yeah. But that's how the world works. People don't generally cut off their nose to spite their face. His career was cut short, so now he feels passionate about concussions. Before his career was cut short, it wasn't an issue for him and arguing about it wasn't a smart career move.

Mr.Right

Ugh....Forget it.  I am actually mad that he has disrupted this fragile UMASS Boston side. After that bus ride up to Canton, NY those local city kids probably feel like they just drove to the middle of Saskatchewan. At some point boredom hit and this is the end result.
