Saint of Old

Hats off to Amherst!!!

Good luck boyz.

Great season Oneonta.

Say what you want about Amherst, bottom line is RESPECT them because they win.
One more win for them and they are Kings of the D3 soccer world.

Amherst's direct long ball approach is no joy to watch and it didn't afford them any goals today.  But they used their athleticism on defense to get to PK's to give themselves the chance to win as they move on.

Quick thoughts from NCAC....

Congrats to Amherst.  Have to give them credit for being willing to grind out and take their chances in double OT and PK games.

Appreciate watching these players with more TV-like perspective.  I thought was a very even game despite the different styles.  I liked Oneonta more and they are really, really good.  No doubt missed Passasiotore.  Gives an idea about how good Haverford was.  That said Amherst creates a lot of chances off long set pieces, throws, corners, etc.

Speaking of top players, Dylan Williams has got to be up there.  Special player and too bad he missed the 1st PK.

NPL really is top-notch.  Incredible work rate, up top always ready to pop through and then making defensive plays all the way at other end of the pitch.  I know it has worked for him often, but I wish he'd stay on his feet a little more and try to dribble at defenders once in a while.  Almost everything is a flip or trick play or a bicycle when maybe a bicycle isn't the easiest or best play.  [BTW, have you ever see a team that attempts so many bike kicks?] He does have great sense with his first touch as is looking to make a killer flick or flip almost any time he's in the final 3rd.  He gives some shots but he's willing to take them too.  Everytime you looked up he was right there in the play somehow.

How could Pellegrino never be called for going a clear half-yard over the line every time he punts?  That was mentioned by the announcer in the Haverford game.

As Mr.Right said, Oneonta out now without conceding a goal.  Tough luck for them.  They were good enough to win the whole thing and maybe the team there that can really match up with Amherst.  Thought Purtell also was excellent and too bad he also missed his PK.  Kept thinking Sutherland might get one.  The Lenhart kid for Amherst is huge for them.  Really smart and effective player.

Can't wait for the next one.

Definitely a tough way to go out for Oneonta. I thought they were the better team of the two but as someone else posted, neither really had more than 1 or 2 solid goal scoring opportunities. @NCAC, Pellegrino does a drop kick (vs. a punt) - he kicks it off the bounce.

Right, misspoke, but still think he's over the line, and every time.

Am I hearing things or is this a new commentator?  More specifically, the same one from Loras v Rutgers-Camden in 2013

I figured they would have gotten rid of him after his over ecstatic reaction after the goal haha

I wasn't trying to correct you I was trying to clarify the issue. He crosses the line every time but the ball isn't in his hands - it's skipping off the ground as he is crossing the line.

I'm a big fan of Calvin's GK urgency with decision making when he collects the ball

KnightFalcon

Am I mistaken or is this the first time Loras has had a lead at the final 4?

KnightFalcon

Correct myself - they did go up 2-1 on Camden late in that game in 2013

KnightFalcon

I think Calvin needs to score in the first 10-15 minutes or Loras will go into their shell and leave one player high - and then it will be over

Agree this is a very boring game.

Linke(#10) just couldn't finish his chances.
