The Duhawks finished the season strong and look ready to make another deep run. With everyone finally healthy, beware of the Rockbowl.

Amherst has the easiest road - Cabrini, Lycoming, Brandeis/Trinity.
Amherst could get to final 4 without conceding a goal

MSU 2nd easiest - Daniel "bye" Webster, Tufts, Kenyon, F&M/Calvin/OWU
This reminds me of 2011, Camden wins NJAC and loses Elite 8 to Oneonta St in 2OT at SLU; MSU makes it to Final 4.  MSU too much fire power for the likes of Kenyon and Calvin.

Loras 3rd - ONU, Wash/DePauw, Wheaton
Loras gets perennial chokers UAA Conference team, Washington and 2-10 tourney DePauw.  Wheaton is a serious threat to their chances.  I think the Thunder buddies pull it off.

Haverford toughest - W&L, SLU, Oneonta/Camden/Bowdoin/Plattsburgh St...
Fords will have tough match ups each round, and this is the most wide open pod, IMO

I don't care what the "rankings" say, but MSU pod has weak conference champions; Salisbury, Gordon, Babson, MSOE. ---- C'monnnn.   Battle tested teams with not enough to beat MSU; Tufts, CMU, Chicago, OWU, F&M.   And of course you have Kenyon & Calvin - untested strong programs.  Then you have TMC a non AQ from weak conference... It's the weakest in terms of SOS, IMO.
What have the monties done to deserve such high praise from you?
Don't understand how Kenyon and Calvin are untested programs while perennial under-achievers CMU and Chicago are "battle tested". Kenyon's been a tourney regular over the last few seasons and Calvin's tournament performance in the last 7 or 8 years is up there with anybody not named Messiah.

And I don't know why people think a 4 (err, 3) loss Loras team is a sure bet.  They already lost two of their games to teams they'll potentially have to play in their pod!!

Mr.Right

Can someone just appease this "wingnut" and say LORAS WILL LOSE and they have the BEST CHANCE TO LOSE over anybody.

So Calvin gets some kind of pass because they made the final in 2011?   THEY HAVE NOT PLAYED A TOP 50 school all year (21 games)... Endicott and Gordon are borderline.  If the NE didn't rank so many, Calvin RvR would be 0-0-0. So yes, their GD should be around 70 GF 8 GA.  When they play a real team, I'll be satisfied.

MSU was final 4 2011, Elite 8 2013... They are also 6-2-1 RvR THIS season. Beat Haverford, lost last min to Oneonta St.

swibbles

The NCAA scheduling committee has done it again. Another year of religious exceptions putting games on school days to avoid Sundays.

Why should some kids have to miss school so other kids don't have to miss church? Strange precedent for the NCAA to set...

What are some teams that should be on upset alert in the first round?

Think Babson will give F&M a game, but I still think F&M will win it.
Bridgewater State is organized, big, and athletic and could give MIT problems.

Montclair State could be upset by Daniel Web...sorry, can't even say it with a straight face.  ;D

Possible 1st round upsets:

DePauw vs Westminister (Mo)---DePauw should be careful in this one.

CMU vs Gordon---I still think CMU is overrated.

OWU vs MSOE---MSOE can score in bunches if OWU isn't ready for them...I would keep my eye on this one if I were you.

Calvin vs Mt. Aloysius---Can't underestimate a team with confidence...plus Calvin has to lose eventually...right?

MIT vs Bridgewater St.---The bridge is determined...watch out for a sweet 16 run by them.

Plattsburgh St. vs Bowdin---Not sold on Plattsburgh but I think they advance in this one.

Scranton vs Mass.Boston---Scranton is a tough, physical team clicking at the right time...could cause problems.

Lycoming vs J&W(RI)---3rd straight appearance for JW...still looking for that first NCAA win though. Is this the year?

Amherst vs Morrisville St(if MSU beats Cabrini)---MSU gave Messiah all sorts of trouble last year...expect this one to be somewhat close.

My picks for the above games:
DePauw
Gordon
OWU
Calvin
Bridgewater
Plattsburgh
Scranton
Lycoming
Amherst

With no logic to back up this statement.

I actually think the UAA is going to have their best year in the NCAA's this year in the early rounds.

4 teams all with a legit chance to make the Sweet 16.

CMU can dispatch of Gordon and F&M

Brandies can handle Thomas and Stevens

Chicago can upset Thomas More and Kenyon.

Wash U can certainly almost walk into the sweet 16 with wins over Millsaps and Depauw.

Chicago has the toughest road but I believe they are a better team than Wash U and CMU.

The question is can 1 of them get to the Final 4? The answer is NO

The Thomas coach said that Tre Ming is "one of the top three players in Division III." Haven't seen much of him, what do you think Mr.Right? (I'm guessing that was a generous accolade, though to be fair the guy does have 6 goals and 20 assists.)

The logic is in the fact that you've already lost to two teams in your pod.
I'm not saying you're certain to lose, just don't understand some individuals anointing them before a ball is kicked.
I'd have a better chance of subscribing to lgotb's stance on MSU than mr right's idea of Loras as untouchable favorite.

OWU is always ready to drop a clanger.
Trinity could lose to UTD (though I hope it doesn't happen as I have a friend on the squad).
And the UAA squads are always ready to disappoint - my money is on Wash U being the first round victim this year.

With senior center back Hoge injured andsenior back DiCesare sitting out a red card suspension (started all 21 games this year) OWU will be needed to make adjustments on defense.  They dropped Lee back into his previous spot in CB versus DePauw later in the game, also had Barnes play CB in that game.  They are NOT a tall squad either.
