I caught the end of the Kenyon and Chicago game. last 30 minutes after the oneonta game. Kenyon is good but they do not look as superior as oneonta did. I also called Kenyon winning the shootout after I saw how crazy the goal keeper was. I guess the old saying is correct, a good keeper isn't right in the head.

Loras with a 3-1 victory over Carthage.  Weird game overall.  Loras dominated and scored easily (including a highlight reel one from Lenke) in the first half and then put it out of reach 1 minute into the 2nd when they scored their 3rd.  Then the Duhawk intensity dropped and Carthage came close to getting back into it several times, finally scoring on a PK call.  I'm not sure how many yellows were issued but it was getting a bit out of hand and then Carthage's limited composure exploded and they got 2 reds in the last 3 minutes.  Loras was leaving huge amounts of space between their lines and Peterson (GK) seemed to look vulnerable on long throws and corners, which I hadn't seen in other games this season.

Have to wonder if that last sequence with Brandeis peppering the goal and hitting the post will come back to bite them, but the Judges look VERY sharp in this one.  Brandeis is really good.

RPI looks like a 7th place team in this one.
Brandeis in complete control and should be 3-0 up.

Brandeis is very good but I thought 2nd Half RPI has battled very hard. Both teams work extremely hard, if RPI had a striker that could finish they would have been able to tie the game up. They do not get many chances but when they do they have no one who can finish.

MSU 1 - Tufts 1. Tufts goal against the run of play. MSU goal on a well deserved PK.

Obviously happy to advance....

Kenyon should have been down at least by 3 at the half.  Clougher gifted a goal hitting a goal kick into Desai's back who turns around and puts the ball in an open net.  Chicago dominated most of 1st half and missed a couple of very open looks in close, hit a crossbar, etc.  Kenyon had to feel fortunate to just be down 1-0 but also worried that they played so poorly.  The sun apparently was a huge factor and ref did not allow Clougher to wear a cap as he usually does in the sun.

Kenyon much better in 2nd half, and dominant, although probably not as dominant as Chicago had been in 1st half....although stats suggest otherwise as shots were 10 to 1 for Lords in 2nd half.  Lords had several very good chances.  Still gave the ball away with frequency, sometimes in bad spots, and some poor decisions at times as well.  So played much better but not necessarily well.  Chicago is quick, skilled and pretty physical for an overall smallish team....a lot of short, stocky kids with good speed, skill and toughness.

Not much happened in the OTs.  I thought Chicago would have the edge in PKs because I know Bonin is a superb GK and frankly, after Amolo and Barnes, I had no idea who would even take a PK for Kenyon.  Chicago also got to shoot first which I think is an advantage if your shooter buries that first one, which is exactly what Desai did.  Clougher, though, again came up big, making a good save and then a second really good save, tipping one to the crossbar.

I did not think Kenyon looked like a title contender team, at least today, but they are still alive.  Carmona, the stud frosh midfielder, did not play yesterday or today.  They definitely missed him today when Chicago seemed to have a big advantage in the midfield and especially in the first half held the ball better than the Lords.  No idea why he didn't play, and no clue if he will be available on Friday.

Some the first half fouls committed by Kenyon were unconscionable. Referee was given several "moments of truth" which I believe he failed in every situation. Many long stoppages to "talk" to players after awful fouls when he needed to use cards. The foul by Kenyon's #6 on Chicago's #2 was straight red VC. Very uncharacteristic for Kenyon - a shameful first half performance.

Mr.Right

RPI has about 20 lives this season...They just do NOT GIVE UP....Stupid foul gives RPI a set piece at Mid Field and Brandeis GK comes for a ball that he was not going to get. I think he got his hands to it but could not catch it and ball bounces around and RPI finishes.

Looks like it has as RPI has just tied with less than 5 left. Brandeis has been in complete control and has hit the post 3 times and has over 3X as many shots. This will be an interesting OT.

What was the GK doing?
RPI with a lifeline.

Good win for Brandeis..They certainly deserved it. Now a good old fashioned out of region rematch with Trinity TX at Amherst. Knowing Serpone and Amherst they will take the late game w/ Lycoming as they usually do. Personally, I would switch it up and go at 11am.

lastguyoffthebench

Which one? Brandeis scrum in the box or MSU?

Only the 3rd time this year Tufts has conceded twice

Brandeis certainly deserved to win this game, but if they expect to win two games next weekend the finishing is going to need to be a lot better. They completely dominated the first half tonight and should've put the game out of reach early. They aren't going to be able to get away with that against the type of quality they will see next weekend from Trinity and Amherst.
