Yup - here it starts ... 2 guys high and everyone else behind the ball. Not enough elite skill on Calvin to break down the defense

And no one ever accused Loras of playing beautiful soccer - just brutally effective

stlawus

Yea I wasn't trying to take anything away from Loras.  They are without a doubt the superior team.  If I was a Loras fan this would be a pleasure to watch.  I think Loras is the best team between them and Amherst right now.

They'll frustrate Amherst - should be a pretty chippy game though. May turn into a rugby match

D3soccerwatcher

Calvin at least trying to play soccer. Loras long ball after long ball.

KnightFalcon

Does that surprise you?

I wish Rummelhart would have brought back the mohawk

D3soccerwatcher

No I guess I'm not surprised.  But this game is testing my patience. Not sure I'll have enough patience left to watch tomorrow.  And now all the fouling is just not the type of soccer I like to watch.

KnightFalcon

Agree - where's Keegan Balle when you need him?

I thought Loras was great tonight.  Played a perfect Loras game.  How good is Alex Bradley?  Jorge Simon had a monster game too.  Irwin was all over the field as field.  And Higgins and Giacotti at outside backs.  Giacotti was on the reserve team!  Nice story.  Calvin proved again that they can compete, and they hung with Loras athletically and physically as well.  Never felt, though, that Calvin was the better team even when they had more possession.

I suggest you don't watch if you don't like it, believe me you won't be hurting our feelings.

Linke(#10) just couldn't finish his chances.
Lenke was the man of the match, he owned the defender time after time.

Late reply to blooter and Mr. R re Bull's performance today (posted on the NESCAC thread):

Bull sets the tone in PKs by stoning Oneonta's first attempt. Then the power move with a monster PK of his own, blasted past O's GK. All-American.

Oh c'mon Kickin - enjoy this.  ;) It doesn't happen every year. Plus, Loras is going to make me look like a prophet tomorrow. Go look at my response on Nov 25, 2014 to one of your posts.

My prediction: Loras 1-0 on a late goal by Rummelhart off a rebound from a shot by Lenke. Then you can put all those participation medals in the drawer forever

Oh, I'm not angry, just stating the obvious.  It's no secret that there are more than a few people that don't like Loras's style regardless of how effective it may be.  Last time I checked there weren't judges on the sidelines that awarded style points.
