Agree - they are never out and that last save kept them in it

Wonder if Rothert sticks with his sub pattern or shortens the bench. Rummelhart and Lenke are very dangerous

I think Rummelhart and Lenke will be in real soon.

I don't think this ref likes Pascual too much

Maybe I should be asking how well Amherst plays with a lead

Looks like Rothert is subbing as usual - he did that 2 years ago against Camden when they were down then brought a whole crew of starters back in with 15 to play and they blew Camden's doors off with 2 quick goals

Very well. But if there's any team that could give them trouble, it's Loras.

I remember when they did that we all looked at each other and said sh*t

Bradley misses a good chance....

Safe to say when an unbeaten NESCAC first seed loses to the 8th seed in the conference tournament then they will win the NCAAs? If it happens against next year then I think so. Best conference in the country.

Amherst can thank Wesleyan for that two week break.

Congrats to Amherst.   Shame Trinity (TX) had to face them in the quarters, but that's life.

Great.  We all get to hear how great the NESCAC is for another few months, as if we already didn't know!  I'd still like to see them sack up and have NESCAC - NJAC or NESCAC - CENTENNIAL CHALLENGE.

Wesleyan with big wins over Amherst and a Haverford team that wasn't clicking yet...

Middlebury robbed of a chance at the title...

Congrats to Amherst.  Genuinely happy for their program and their alumni, even though I feel bad for Loras Nation.  Great game, worthy of a final.  Amherst one of the few teams where Loras could not ultimately impose their will, even though they tried like heck.  Loras played really, really hard....wish they could have played a little smarter and not given up so many throws inside 40-35 yards.  I'm gonna guess Amherst had 25-30 of those throws.  On the goal, even though ref moved them back 10 yards, I thought that throw should have come from just over the Amherst halfway line.  For a semi-neutral the game would have been even more compelling if Rummelhart had finished his great chance which would have put the Duhawks up 2-1.  I thought Simon was fantastic for Loras and the back line played well.  All that said, Amherst just had a little too much size and overall quality.  Very deserving champions.  Amherst won this one for Amherst.  I don't think they will care one bit that they play in the NESCAC.  I stick by Lehnhart for MVP.  Not sure if this is true or not but seemed like Serpone brought NPL a little deeper into the midfield which gave him more run on the ball than usual.  Serpone also subbed brilliantly I thought just to keep that advantage for Loras at a minimum.

Thought it was a tough battle between 2 great teams.  Amherst definitely won the battle in the air the 1st half. 2nd half Loras decided to get more aggressive and evened out that aspect.  Loras keeper came up huge on several occasions and both keepers controlled their boxes in the air. Bull came up with a huge save to keep the tying goal out.  Amherst 2nd goal was a nice placement shot.  Loras defense had a rare miscommunication that allowed him to walk right into the 18 and get off an uncontested shot.  I think the ref did a good job of not being a factor on the field, he allowed both teams to play hard and was fair to both sides.  He sid let quite a few calls go that he awarded advantage to that weren't an advantage,  but that's just soccer.  Loras threw everything they had at Amherst the last 20 minutes and Amherst kept the door shut.  A few chances at the end I thought were sure to go in, but went high or wide. Congrats to Amherst on their 1st Chmapionship and I am obviously very proud of my Duhawks for their heart and effort.

blooter442 wins if Amherst is champs

Yay, I won the bracket!

But seriously, congrats to Amherst. They were the best team in the country in my mind before the tournament, and so they proved. Was impressed with Loras, though, they gave the Lord Jeffs a real run for their money. What a great final.
