You know, one defender I don't think gets enough recognition perhaps due to having Bull behind him is Bean of Amherst. Solid in the tackle, commanding, and really the organizer of that whole defensive unit. I think he would be fine even without a GK of Bull's class behind him, but will be curious to see how that will play out next year.

Getting re-certified for reffing... Heard that a 2015 NCAA Tournament participant east of the Mississippi River will be ineligible for 2016 NCAA Tournament...

I can't throw the school's name out there just in case it is not true, but maybe a supporter of the school has some info...   I'm also guessing there is an appeal in the works?  Never heard of a d3 school suspended from post season play...

i believe Kean was suspended from post-season play a few years back by the NCAA for several violations including "scholarships" for athletes. Most of the violations had to do with women's basketball but other sports took a hit too...hopefully it is not them again and they learned their lesson.

You're correct with Kean being suspended, I am not sure of the reason though. We played them in 2011 and the result did not count towards the regional rankings.

Understandable for not mentioning the institution at this time (although I am curious too!), but do you know what they would possibly be getting suspended for? What was the infraction (according to the rumor)?

Kean is one example.  There are others.

Baldwin-Wallace had financial aide infractions for athletes from 2009/10 thru 2012/13 that resulted in a self-imposed post-season ban for all sports programs in 2012/13 and they are currently on probation.  (http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/press-releases/baldwin-wallace-lacked-institutional-control )

Neumann was placed on probation a few years back for financial aid violations from 2007/08 thru 2010/11 (athletes, and specifically hockey players, getting virtually 100% of aid targeting Canadian international students) and had a post-season ban imposed for any teams that included recipients of the financial aide.  (http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/news/neumann-university-cited-financial-aid-violations)  Similar thing at Utica in 2010/11 to 2011/12 with financial aide targeting Canadian students going primarily to athletes, with a post-season ban for any teams with recipients (http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/press-releases/utica-college-failed-monitor-financial-aid-program).  In 2009/10, Manhattanville was found to have given significantly more financial aide on average to its international student-athletes than its international non-athletes, particularly in ice hockey, and was put on probation (http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/press-releases/manhattanville-college-failed-monitor-financial-aid).

Denison and UW-Superior had financial aid violations from 2008/09 thru 2012/13 that has them currently on probation, but no post-season ban was involved I don't think.  (http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/press-releases/denison-did-not-monitor-financial-aid-processhttp://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/press-releases/wisconsin-superior-failed-monitor-scholarship-program)

UW-River Falls football (http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/press-releases/wisconsin-river-falls-failed-monitor-scholarship) and Maine Maritime football (http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/press-releases/maine-maritime-failed-monitor-financial-aid-program) had financial aide infractions a few years ago that resulted in probation but no post-season ban as far as I can tell.

Financial aide infractions are certainly the most typical, but there's also recruiting violations.  Staten Island's men's swim coach was found guilty of this and the program was hit with a 2-year post-season ban (http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/press-releases/college-staten-island-lacked-institutional-control-0).   Coaches of the Illinois College football, men's and women's swimming and men's golf programs violated rules regarding when they could text message recruits, and it resulted in probation and self-imposed recruiting limitations but no post-season bans (http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/press-releases/illinois-college-failed-monitor-its-athletics-program).

The other possibility is ineligible players participating in practices or competitions.  Caltech ran afoul of this during the 2010/11 and preceding years and was put on probation for three years and self-imposed a post-season ban in 2012/13 for all programs that had used ineligible players and self-imposed recruiting limitations for 2012/13 as well. Great info FW! I would have guessed either a recruiting violation or financial aid being the most common for violations so that proves my theory before even asking! But that would also be harsh for a post season ban if a school committed a minor recruiting infraction. I guess it all depends on the severity of the infraction and if it was purposefully done.

If only Neumann Soccer was banned for post-season play in 2011...

This two year Messiah National Title drought is the longest the school has had to suffer since 1999.

Nice fun fact/stat of the day! Do you know what the alleged violation is for this school? Financial aid or recruiting? Or something else?

Actions during an NCAA Tournament Game in 2015...  Nothing serious was ever posted on the boards so I'm just curious why the NCAA would be so harsh (if true)...

As you may recall, the Thomas College - Brandeis first round game did get out of control with multiple ejections of Thomas players and a confrontation with/possible punch of a referee.  See, e.g., page 17 of this thread.
