As always, thanks for the rundown, Ejay...

My secondary GOTW in the MAC-C is the Stevenson v. Widener match. #2 and 3 in the conference, respectively, who'll both want to keep their longshot bid hopes alive by securing conference playoff positions.

Beyond that, the Bullets and the Shoremen are both still in the hunt in the Centennial and results this time of year are starting to get crucial. Wash is coming off an 0-1-2 run, while G'burg tied F&M and lost to MW... Both will want to grab some momentum heading down the stretch.

(On a parochial note, Hop will look to avenge last year's loss to the Bears when they face off under the lights at Homewood.)

ETA - I had Hop and Dips mixed up. :D

W&L win 5-0 over Averett and look to be back to their old form. Whether that's because they were playing a weaker team remains to be seen . . .

LANDMARK
Drew @ Elizabethtown
Goucher @ Juniata
Scranton @ Moravian
Catholic @ Susquehanna
GOTW - Drew @ Elizabethtown (also in the week #2 pool). Drew is 10-1-3, but shockingly 0-1-2 in the Landmark.  A loss would be devastating to the Rangers, but will ETown's grass field (only grass in the conference) favor the Blue Jays?

Elizabethtown takes down Drew 2-0.  The grass really caused problems for the Rangers who just couldn't seem to string together any quality passes. First BlueJay goal scored when Drew defender slipped about 30 yards out and the Etoen forward pounced and drove into the box before cutting back to the middle for a nice left footed finish. At 0-2-2, Drew is going to need a lot of help if they want to make the playoffs. Elizabethtown has now won 6 in a row.

Was just coming here to talk about the Etown result... They are on absolute fire right now.

Wide with the 2-0 win, Fatiga with #7.

Shoremen win to muddy the Centennial brackish waters.

Hopkins with a (no offense boys) very unconvincing 2 to nothing win against URS.

While you can't take too much away from any win, much less a 5-0 win, I don't know if a win over Averett is necessarily a resounding marker for success.  Thats a pretty low hurdle. Washington and Lee definitely has some talent - I just don't see much form even at their best.  A lot of run and gun and unstructured movement from that side.

When Messiah played at Etown, that grass seemed to be shin high......cant say Im surprised about grass problems.....Etown athletic department needs to find the height adjustment on their mowers.......

Messiah with another win, and and the 6th straight game with 4 or more goals.  Teams seems to continue to want to double team Matt McDonald, and while I understand that strategy  - it only exposes them to the other 3-4 guys that are serious threats to score.....last night it was Ben Lefever's turn.  Lefever is so solid, and last night he was on the next level.  Speed, strength on the ball - and can hold up defenders better than any one I've seen all season.  A well deserved brace - and I think he is only warming up.  Overall another great team win last night - the Falcons are cooking with gas.

Jake Lent Koop is unflappable - and the defensive anchor for Messiah.  While it is easy and understandable to focus attention on goal scoring - Messiahs back line is bananas.....all 4 are All American material (Johnson, Vollmer, Lent Koop, Morlote) , those boys lock it down and get it done.  They are aggressive, technically strong, and drop absolute dimes all over the field.

In the battle of the birds of prey - Falcons seemed much greater than Eagles.........Falcon Country, Let's Fly

Have you watched the team much? Their style can be chaotic at times, for sure, but I would disagree that it's run and gun. Sometimes the looseness of the play bothers me, but I think that looseness allows for more creativity, when it goes well. In my opinion, the issue with the team is their psychology. Do they want it badly enough? Sometimes they do, and sometimes they don't:-) This unevenness happened last year around this time too.

PS I see you post a lot about Messiah. If the only game you watched was the 1st of the season, I will wholeheartedly say W&L looked terrible and Messiah looked phenomenal.   W&L has improved considerably since then!

paclassic89

Every couple of years a new Messiah troll pops up and then disappears.  It's best to not even engage  ;)

This abuse wouldn't be happening if W&L was in the correct thread...the Generals are not a Mid-Atlantic, Region V team.

Another Mom

What thread should they go in? Seemed presumptuous to post in the "National Perspectives" one, and, funnily enough there isn't an ODAC thread.

I was kidding....but I think a returning Final 4 team that was ranked #1 all last season and top 15 all this season qualifies for "National Perspectives" or you could start a South Atlantic/Region VI thread...or ODAC.

How many key players is W&L missing from last year's squad?
