I guess I read the RvR wrong.  Thought they only had 2.  Good shot then, but probably have to outright win against Muhlenberg.

I think if Hopkins beat Muhlenberg and Dickinson they might have had a shot to host, but they are a bit light on RvR wins which obviously could change after this weekend.  Don't see the Dips hosting after dropping this game, but stranger things have happened.  Combine that with the fact that a lot depends on whether or not schools submit bid proposals in the first place.

For this week's rankings Hopkins had 4 wins vs. ranked opponents.  Only four teams had more and only two others had as many as them.  So I wouldn't say Hopkins is "light on RvR wins".  At this point, Hopkins is a lock for an at-large berth if they lose or tie in the Centennial final.

F&M is the team light on wins against ranked opponents, but their win pct. and SOS should earn them a Pool C berth.

You're correct, I had them mixed up.

Dips haven't trailed at the half all year.

Muhles are 4-0-4 since late September.... Like i said, very tough out.

Actually, Muhles lost to Etown in October.  In any event, good win and as a result I think Washington is officially out.

Watched my third (?) D3 game of the year — been a busy fall — last night in Hopkins-Washington College. In the first five or so minutes, it felt like Hopkins had just about all of the ball — even if it wasn't strictly true, I remember thinking two things: A. the adage "Hopkins are good in possession" was evident and B. this could be a long night for the Shoremen. Still, despite a hefty shot advantage, Washington hung in there — as Hopkins pointed out, it wasn't a clinic in finishing, and it took a kick from 12 yards to decide it. Was surprised to hear that Muhlenberg was up 1-0 and then 2-0 at F&M (but I don't know anything other than past results so maybe I shouldn't have been). Will try to watch the final.

Widener wasn't ready for postseason Messiah

Flying Weasel

I'm cheering on the Philadelphia Union in the MLS Final (cheering from home, not LA) and was 5 minutes late tuning into the Messiah broadcast and missed two goals!!!!!  It's 4-0 and Messiah had a headed goal called back for contact with the GK.

The Falcons are dialed in. Ridiculously efficient

This. Falcon. Team.... (And I've seen all of them since the mid-1980s) ... is almost unbelievably good. I do not recall any of the previous teams actually being better overall. Not one of them. Maybe a couple were just as good, but there can't be more than one or two in that category. IMO, they have the best striker Messiah has had in all those years, with the sole exception of that incomparable season by Nick West. They have one of the 2 or 3 best playmakers ever in Groothoff, with the only comparables being Kasiguran and Woodward. Their four other forwards (the 2 starters and their backups) are unmatched by any other 4 I can recall.

Anything can happen going forward. Anything. We all know that. Life comes with no guarantees. But, back in the 2000s Messiah blew through Final Fours like a hot knife through butter. I recall holding NYU to zero shots (not SOG) in one of those games. This team is that good. It's the first time I've actually thought things like this since then. I hope I'm not just blowin' smoke. If I'm not, look out.

Totally Agree with this Messiah team.  Fantastic!   I was streaming the broadcast, and messiahs broadcast is top notch.

But as I was watching the broadcast and listening to play by play and color guys banter in the first half, I couldn't help  but be struck as one said " widener is a good team, followed by "widener is a great team".  Come on now,  great teams are locks to the NCAA tournament, hosting possibilities and great chances to advance to the second weekend.

Could we not put widener in that category.

And not too long after writing that, both Matt McDonald and his backup Stefan Leitzel removed themselves from the game with injuries. As I said, lIfe comes with no guarantees. Hope they both play next weekend.

Will watch for updates from those with close connections to the team.

I'm in the middle of a multi-generational DnD game, so I'm not really gonna be able to do my real-time rambling. I will say... Really bugs me when goalies have on kits that are in the same color zone as the outfield players.

Muhles goalie wearing a read that's just not all that different than the field players kits.

Not a huge deal, just bugs me. Should be something that really stands out.

I hear you on the GK kits (although I hate the highlighter yellow ones), but I'm trying to process how DnD is still popular (and popular "multi-generational[ly]."  I thought it died years ago and all of sudden it's back with a vengeance.

On my front, COVID. This is a neighborhood game with a mix of dads and "kids" (all in their 20s.) It's been going on for close to 2 years now, even with some of the kids streaming in remotely from out of state.

The 2 of the 3 dads played in high school, one of them just learned as we went along.

It's a pretty great way of kind of "forcing" the kids to hang out with us. :D

Pretty typical Hopkins half of soccer. I'll be repetitive and say this version of Hopkins is much more prone to spraying the ball around the field. Refreshing... and with the added bonus of making them more unpredictable.

But, alas... Need someone to find a finishing touch... Pretty late in the year for that to be a problem.
