Messiah and Stevens are the clear favorites to advance the furthest in the tournament as both earned top seeds in their respective regions.

Others that have a chance are Hopkins & F&M. PSU-Harrisburg might be able to turn some heads with their draw as well. They will be a tough out and can surprise some squads that overlook them. NYU with a brutal draw. They can also make a run but they are in a tough spot.

Don't see much of a chance for any kind of run from Catholic, Rowan, Rosemont, Scranton or Muhles. Sweet 16 at most for someone from this group but I would be shocked if any of them made it that far.

I expect that the Muhles season should end today - but considering W&L has had some big moments of weakness (Guilford loss), I guess anything could happen....The Mules are definitely showing that they can handle business in PK shootouts.....so I don't think anyone wants to play them to a tie.

FYI Muhls also know something about playing on bad turf.  W&Ls field has definitely gone downhill.  Muhls also need to get back on track scoring goals to have any chance of winning

Speaking of Muhles - interesting article today about Matt Turner, USA GK....

One memory that still resonates with Turner came in the state tournament his senior year. It was a chance to prove himself in front of the head coach at Muhlenberg, who came to watch the match at Paramus Catholic. They had met before on a campus visit, and Turner liked the idea of going to his cousin's school. Instead, his plan and his high school career both ended that day with a 2-0 loss to the Paladins.

"I never could get back in contact with him," Turner said. "He just ghosted me. He never said hey, thanks but no thanks. Nothing. I remember seeing him in the stands, and that was the last I ever heard from him."

So does that mean that this dude, who came to Muhlenberg as a freshman the same year that Turner started his freshman year at Fairfield College in 2012, can tell everyone that was recruited over USMNT starting GK Matt Turner?

Mostly we do the right thing because it's the right thing to do - like not leaving an 18 year old kid hanging. Just send the three sentence email.

Other times you do the right thing because the national team's starting keeper will eventually expose your thoughtlessness.

I think this has to be archived in the Why We Like/Dislike a Program thread.

So Matt Turner got really, really, really, really lucky!!!  If he went to Muhlenberg or any D3 program instead of a D1 program like Fairfield, he most likely never had reached his potential.

And if he hadn't gone D1, they probably weren't showing his game on TV, and we wouldn't have the pleasure of one of the all-time worst goalie blunders on video. :D

What a damn great story, can't help but wish the best for the guy. Had the same type of experience with a Centennial school, they wanted my son told the coach he was not ready to commit, we were waiting for a response from Columbia University based on legacy app. After a while the coach stop taking our calls, Babson on the other hand was understanding of his choice and the coach kept in touch up to a year later.

A few Centennial Conference recruiting notes from the HS Class of 2023 (based on social media and soccer website postings).

Johns Hopkins has commitments from two MLS Next defenders who are three star rated on Top Drawer:  Jonathan Locala (San Francisco Glens) and CJ Feldman (IMG Academy).  Jacob Sardinha, a midfielder from New England Surf, has also committed

Haverford has commitments from ECNL forward, Thomas Vanni (Penn Fusion) who was previously in MLS Next with Charlotte Soccer Academy, and ECNL forward Aidan Lacy from KC Athletics

Dickinson has a commitment from Vincenzo Randazzo, a midfielder from Delaware Valley Regional HS and Lehigh Valley United

Washington College has a commitment from Bennett Spencer, a midfielder from Nashville United Soccer Academy

McDaniel has commitments from forward Ben Schenk (Bridgton Academy, ME), GK Gianluca Conte from Bethesda SC, Zakarya Arefian from Richard Motgomery HS, GK Tate Roth from Lancaster Elite, and Niles Dunham from St. Johns College HS

Would love to know how these HS player rankings are developed/determined........would seem pretty subjective....way too many players outside the true MLS academies for me......

Yeah - I noted they were three star rated by Top Drawer because that's where I saw the commitments and figured it was worth mentioning.  Based on my personal experience with players who have received some stars, I know that Top Drawer gives stars automatically for any kind of a USYNT callup to a regional ID camp, and keeps it even if it happened years ago.  They (and really all recruiting sites in all sports) also give stars if they know big name D1 programs have offered a kid or shown interest in them.  I wouldn't take any of that too seriously.

I also listed a position where I could find one, but some schools listed a position for some players in their announcements and not for others.  Maybe they have multiple positions or the coach doesn't know what he's going to do with them yet (or doesn't want to tell the high scoring forward he's moving him to defender in a social media post!)
