BlueJay95...Abused? I don't know if I would take it to that extreme but so be it. If you noticed in some of my other posts, I have the Muhles ranked in the region and they will most likely move up pending results this weekend. Yes, I poked in good fun after their loss to Scranton, freshly after you touted them the region's best. But abused? Interesting...here's my latest assessment for reference. I have them tied for 5th because I think they are probably better than Scranton BUT they lost to them so figured a T5 was fair at the time. Like I said, I can see them moving up when I review next week.

Region 5
1. Messiah
2. F&M
3. JHU
4. Widener
T5. Scranton
T5. Muhles
7. Wash Coll

Surprised you even have Scranton listed.  Last 4 games LTWL. They're currently out of the Paywall Conference playoff picture at 0-2-1.

Coach Singleton (W&L) had a snippet posted on the WLU Generals Facebook account today. Favorite Memory at W&L? "Earning a trip to our program's first final 4 while beating Messiah on our home field was a great day!"

Yep... it might have been a few years since Messiah won a Natty, but they are still getting everyone's best shot and carrying the big target on their backs. Been going on for 20+ years and you have to admire that success in a program.

Agree  - Playing Messiah is most every program's biggest game of the season.  Regardless of rankings, Messiah gets everyones "best" each time they play.  Big target each time they play.  Testament to the program for sure.

SierraFD3soccer

Absolutely.  A program is gar consistently has great years. Beating or tying Messiah is an outstanding accomplishment.

I can't imagine that this wasn't mentioned on the board before and I somehow missed it....but just tripped on Christian Pulisic's father, Mark, previously being the long-term (12 years) coach at Lebanon Valley from '93 thru '04 when he handed the keys prior to the 2005 season to current head coach Charlie Grimes who was a star midfielder at Elizabethtown, helping the Blue Jays to 4 NCAA tourney appearances.

Never knew this! Pretty neat stuff.

Mark Pulisic, soccer-wise, was pretty well know in the south central area of PA before his son became famous. He also started the women's program at LVC and coached each at the same time. Son actually ran into Christian in Lancaster at a bar last year.

Hey everyone: If you want to watch a very, very good game and its only in the first 10 min or so. F&M v. Muhls.  2-1 F&M. Muhls scored first off a very nice free kick. In the next 5 min. Dips scored two off of two nice plays.

Rewind to see the goals.

Final 4-2 F&M.  Muhls had a rough own goal in the second half so F&M up 3-1.  Muhls kept fighting and I would say played better in the second half and had a nice goal 3-2. F&M's keeper had a very nice save to keep it 3-2.  Couple minutes later Oscar Horowitz got his second goal of the game (12 goals now, leading the Cent. Conf.)

F&M really pressured the Muhl's keeper and backs all game. Last goal sort was a result of that and F&M could have maybe gotten two more goals off of the pressure.  Having watched the Muhls several times, I really thought they would be better.  Maybe not letting them breath much throughout the game put them off their game. Dips did "swarm" and maybe that was the difference. Dips being Dips.

Up to 2nd place in the Conference. 3-0-2 behind WC which is 4-0-1.  F&M has to play JHU and Wash C. still.  WC has to play JHU,  Muhls and F&M all in a row. JHU and Muhls are 1 point behind F&M. Next Saturday F&M plays JHU.

Coach Jeff

Messiah #1 takes down #13 Widener on homecoming weekend 2-0.  Jake LC Lent-Koop returning from an injury got his for start of the season. Goals by Sam Philips and Matt McDonald in the first half.  Messiah led in shots 11 to 4 and corners 11 to 0.  Widener Sean Fatiga had two good chances but both were just wide of the goal.  After watching the game today, I can see why he has been the MACC player of the week.  Big, strong and will shoot from anywhere.
