Cabrini knocks off #17 Rowan 1-0 in OT!
WOW! Congrats Cavs!!
Up next DeSales or Hopkins.

I wonder what that game looked like.  42 shots to 2 and Rowan lost 1-0.  OUCH.  Doubt Cabrini can pull off another one like that but great to see the underdog find a way to win.

Pretty crazy that Messiah only scored once against Castleton despite bossing shots 25-3. Castleton keeper with 13 saves. Anyone at the game? (I'd imagine the answer is yes.) I have seen those types of games before but am curious to hear from someone who actually saw it.

I watched online. Messiah didn't have a lot of great shots to be honest. One goal was called back after a hard shot knocked off keeper and rebound put in.  I guess it was called offside. Not an overpowering performance but enough to get the win. Could have met same fate as Rowan. Lots of possession...80-20..but need to score more goals..

Thanks. Sometimes teams have those days -- even national powerhouses.

They've had a lot of " those days" this season. The fact they keep winning is either a sign of great resilience or great luck. Which is why I've said I would not be surprised if they won it all, or if they get bounced early.

Saw a bit of it (arrived early for the second game ...) and watched Messiah dominate possession. Castleton stayed organized and compact, making quality shots very hard to generate. Once the goal was scored it seemed strange that Castleton did not attack more -- though they needed a GOAL.  With no pressure going forward/on Messiah's back line, the game sort of cruised along to the end.

I keep wondering why Messiah is in Buffalo playing on a frozen piece of heavily used turf, in the dark/under the lights.
Game time temp was 31F yesterday. Today's 7PM game v. Hobart will be a balmy 40F.

Messiah women's team is hosting first round games so the men had to go on the road. I believe if they managed to win today they would host at home next weekend. I'm sure Hobart will give it all they have to pull the upset.  I don't get why they can't just play at 3 or something. Do they have some 24 hr rule between games in the tournament? Tough for fans that have to travel far to have to wait until 7 and then drive home after game finishes. I opted to stay home and watch online!

Lyco and Drew still knotted at 0 with around 25 to go

Drew gets one. 1-0. Final drew wins.  Lot of fouls in this game. 20+ on each team.  Must have been a chippy game. Tueno got red at the end.

I saw those stats, too--7 cards, including one on the bench. Chippy games are common in Williamsport.

I think Tueno has another year left to play. Would the red card mean that he has to sit out the opener in 2018?

Yes.

I've said it before... Drew is legit. Their SOS may not be the best, but they have to be looked at as a legitimate final 4 contender. They can beat anyone in this field.

Drew plays with an edge and Lycoming plays borderline dirty, it was inevitable that reds would be handed out

If you would have watched the game you would have saw that Drew's head coach got a red card, not some random substitute on the bench. This was a physical match in which the referee lost control of from the opening whistle and it showed with 2 reds late in the game and multiple yellows. Drew may very well be the dirtiest team I have seen play all year. I was shocked to see the cheap, late hits and elbows that went without notice to the officiating crew. I thought both teams battled hard and Lycoming had some great chances to end the game early and couldn't find the back of the net. They must have had 4 or 5 chances within the 18 that were WIDE OPEN and somehow managed to miss. You can't do that at this point in the season and it surely cost them. They let Drew continue to hang around and a poor call by the official gave Drew a free kick from 20 out and the kid hit a beautiful strike. Lycoming had some opportunities that didn't go the way they had hoped with potentially 2 no-call PK's throughout the game that seemed pretty evident if you were watching. A tough draw for the Warriors to get Drew in the second round and I anticipate Brandeis having no problems with them next weekend. Drew never really got dangerous and the 2 stud forwards up top were not impressive to me at all. To combine for over 30 goals as a duo and not even get a shot off was disappointing. The only time Drew got dangerous offensively was after they scored and Lycoming started to throw numbers forward. Other than that the free kick was the only decent chance they had and they took advantage of it. Looking ahead to next week I am going with a 4-1 win to Brandeis. Drew is poor defensively and will get picked apart. They were extremely lucky to survive both games this weekend in which they were outplayed in both matches.

Actually I did watch the match and I didnt say a player got a Red.  Coach received a Red because he spent about 1 minute arguing with a ref about a non call on a Lycoming player who came studs up at one of the Drew players knee.  Drew team is not innocent here at all, but Lycoming plays this way every match I have seen them play.  Drew has it in them to play like that also, no doubt.
