Watched about half of the JHU - Bridgewater game. Younker is fully back and had assists on both of JHU's goals. That guy is a terror down the wings... Not Nick West level, but in terms of driving the offense, he is very similar in terms of impact. (Again, NW is a level above, I'm just saying Younker is reminiscent... Doesn't finish at the same clip, but he is incredibly difficult to contain.)

If he can get half of the Goals he scored in 2017 that would be very welcome for Hopkins. Where is he playing in Hopkins system

Out high and wide, as per previous years. I personally think he should be switching with their central forward more, but the Coach seems really bent on keeping his formation as is.

Hopkins being rigid in their system? Hmm... that seems... entirely correct. Though I shouldn't really say anything. They mopped the floor with my Generals not long ago!

I've been complaining about it for many years. I'm going to try and keep that to a dull roar this season, but watching them pass the ball around the back while down 2 goals late against Messiah in the NCAAs was about the height of that nonsense.

DucksFan02

About as big of a game as it gets for Stevens tonight @Franklin Marshall....6-0-0 with striker Cristiano Hocken(number 9) with 4 goals in past 2 games and looking dangerous as a team. Seem to have cleaned up the defense from the first weekend, with just one goal conceded in their past 4, compared to 4 conceded in first 2. Toughest opponents have been Vassar and Rutgers Newark, so tonight will be a whole new level, work is cut out for the backline. Will definitely be streaming this one, and hoping to see a high level, sweet 16/elite 8 game level of play from these 2 teams....anyone else have any high level games from around the country worth tuning in to?

Hopkins92

The Ducks-Dips tilt is the one I circled, but almost every team (other than Hop) in the top 10-15 in the region (honorable mentions included) has a game tonight.

I'm pretty curious to see what Messiah does in York, who is almost always a tough out at home.

I'm admittedly not watching all that closely, but what I've seen is... choppy play, as charitable as I can say about both teams.

1-0 Fords on an extremely early goal off of a set piece. Very well struck from the top of the box.

Hopkins92

Rowan equalize off of a turnover, with :24 left in the half.

Hopkins92

Wow. REMARKABLE.

Rowan score AGAIN with :24 to tie the game.

WOW.

Hopkins92

I've got a lot of tabs open, but sure looks like Messiah just scored with less than 20 seconds to tie it up at 2.

DucksFan02

Ducks lose to Diplomats in a heartbreak in the 104th....free kick top of the box slotted into the corner. F&M dominated game for long stretches but Ducks had chances to take the lead as well. Overall a high level game good luck to Dips going forward.

Messiah completes the comeback down 2-1 with 15 seconds left to tie and win it in OT 3-2. Big road win for the Falcons that needed a momentum boost like this. The Falcons are now 4-2-1 on the year and are boasting a 3 game winning streak. The Hobart and Ithaca losses aren't looking too bad right now but the concern for the Messiah faithful has to be the amount of goals given up. This is uncharacteristic of Messiah teams in the past and currently they have 1 shutout on the year and have been shut out themselves twice. Last year's team gave up just 15 goals en route to the Elite 8 of NCAA's. This years team has already given up 6 goals which is cause for concern. The next 3 games will make or break their chances of an at-large bid as they host Salisbury and John Carroll and travel to rival Etown.

Lycoming picks up a nice and much needed win over a struggling Dickinson side 2-0. The Warriors have been on a roller coaster ride thus far but they looked solid from the 25 minutes I was able to catch yesterday during the first half. It's hard to believe they have 3 losses but I haven't seen them play much yet. The Warriors are now 3-3-0 on the year and have a big clash upcoming with Eastern this weekend, who is also struggling out of the gate this year. Dickinson drops to 2-4-0 and the schedule doesn't get much easier moving forward.

Eastern picks up a nice win over rival Cabrini 2-1 in last night's action. The Eagles are now 3-3-1 on the year and picked up their first win in the last 4 games after starting the year 2-0-0. As mentioned, they have an upcoming clash at Lycoming that is critical for both teams as they look to make a push into the regional rankings and get back to their winning ways. Certainly one to tune into this weekend! I will be watching  :D

F&M picks up a great win in 2OT over undefeated Stevens 1-0. The Diplomats improve to 5-1-0 on the year and look like one of the top contenders so far. 5 of the next 6 games for F&M will be more telling but I think they will handle this stretch with ease. Stevens drops to 6-1-0 on the season and also looks like they are the favorites to win the Freedom. Not much competition the rest of the way for the Ducks so I expect them to end the year with less than 3 losses and coast to NCAA's.

Gettysburg pounded Lebanon Valley 2-0. The Bullets have now won 3 in a row all against Commonwealth teams and look poised to make a run in the Centennial as they improve to 4-2-0 on the year. Meanwhile, the Dutchman drop to 2-3-1 but have a favorable upcoming schedule as they head towards the conference slate.

Some other notable results last night were the following:
Catholic draws Mary Washington 0-0
Etown breezes past Alvernia 3-0
Moravian pounds Bryn Athyn 8-1
Drew loses to TCNJ 2-1
Muhles stay hot w/a 4-3 OT win over DeSales
Swat and St. Mary's tie 1-1
Rowan and Fords draw 2-2

Here are my rankings heading into the weekend...

Messiah was fortunate to get the win at York. York played well and probably deserved the win. Late game heroics by junior Trevor Goodling saved the game. Messiah may be getting Luke G back on the field soon so that would be a welcome site. I saw that York scored 2 own goals against Hopkins and lost 2-1 so they are a legit team. Messiah has  shuffled players around quite a bit early this season but I think starting to figure it out. Next Saturday home game with John Carroll will be big test. Hopefully Luke is back by then.  Freshman Ben Lefever has been a key contributor on offense.

Luke finally returned, getting into the game off the bench in the first half, played most of the second half and both OTs in one of the most fun 0-0 games I've seen in a long time. A very physical and talented Salisbury team was utterly outplayed in the first half, when the Falcons had something like 16-1 shot advantage, but Messiah couldn't convert. In the second half things were pretty even, still with no scoring, though Luke missed a chippie that would have been the GW.

Each side failed to convert a PK in OT—first Salisbury (hit the bar), then Messiah (saved, with a brilliant second save of a point-blank shot off the rebound). Salusbury's keeper was the player of the game, IMO. Luke hit the post on a very hard shot from outside the box on the dead run, surrounded by Seagulls, and he also missed a bicycle kick where the keeper was probably watching his life pass before him. Once he gets the rust shaken off after several weeks recovering from some type of knee injury, LG is going to be just dynamite, and the Falcons are going to start scoring again. I only hope it happens next week vs Etown and John Carroll. If not, the Falcons will have to win the AQ in their conference tournament.

Might have seen injuries to two key defenders—definitely Joe King, who sustained some type of ankle injury and badly limped off, and perhaps to his counterpart Shay Quintin. Unsure about Shay, who went down near the sideline and soon disappeared without returning for the OTs. Real concern on my part, given the quality of the teams the Falcons are now facing. Will the injuries never stop? Will this very talented team ever get to play full strength?
