Catholic 3:2 Susq. (Catholic needed an 81st minute goal to take this one.)
Muhles 1:2 G'burg (A ton of yellow cards for the Muhles. I don't know if this got ugly early for some reason, but I watched most of the second half and it was VERY chippy.)
Alvernia 1:0 Stevenson (This happened on Friday... Pretty bad L for Stevenson)
F&M 2:1 Drew (Dips keep the momentum going 5-0 in the CC)

Dickinson about to kick off against WC; Hopkins and Swat square off at 6:30. Messiah at Widener @ 7:30.

Not surprised by the Alvernia win. They also beat Hood past week.  They were the best darn 1-9 team I've seen when they played Messiah. High pressure all game, intercepted a ton of passes. Maybe they had injuries early on or just needed time to gel. That was a much tougher game than John Carrol game. Most losses were also by 1 goal..they were not getting badly beaten.

I fully agree with Rudy. I cannot understand how they have that record: they are well coached, well organized, and they play hard. If they keep playing this well, they will make the conference tournament.

I was curious so looked at the starters for Alvernia in earlier 3-0 loss to ETown. The goalie was replaced with a freshman. Also 4 other new starters. I also think they will make the conference tournament. And they were actually 1-10-2 when they played Messiah. Compared to the Arcadia game that was very one sided...Alvernia played more like Lycoming.

F&M was against Ursinus.  Tied 1-1 until 80th minute.  Chippy at the end... YC for both teams.

Yeah, thanks, not sure how I botched the etown-drew thing.

Hopkins92

Good insight on Alvernia. Wasn't trying to slight them, but, I mean... That's not a good look for a Stevenson team that has not really beaten a quality side... Quick glance, LebValley is their best win. They got got by St. Mary's and Gettysburg... Tied Stevens, which is still a side I'm not sold on at this point.

Lycoming loses to Arcadia. That's a surprise. Lyco is 6-0 at home and 1-4 on the road. Messiah playing at Lyco this week so it should be tight game on their field.

FelixCloudy

Wow... anyone watch the JHU Swat game?  2-2 2OT, but JHU scores on 2 PKs, the second one tied it up in the last 30 seconds. Lots of cards too - including a straight RC in OT to JHU's Creedon who had scored the PK to tie it up.

Hopkins92

I watched the first half, which saw a field tilted towards Swats goal but Swat scoring against the run of play. Bailed on the second half because it was Saturday night. :D

FelixCloudy

From the stats in the second half, Swat came out shooting - 7 shots vs. 1 in the first half, and totaled 6-4 SOG for the game.  Interesting that JHU, who is nationally ranked #7 couldn't put it away and their goals scored were 2 PKs, but credit to them they held the tie playing down a man the last seven minutes.

Also interesting that nationally ranked #4 F&M almost had to settle for a tie with #188 (Massey) Ursinus - the winning goal came in the last 10 minutes.  The CC game to watch next Saturday is F&M vs. JHU.  Mathematically, the CC tournament slots are still not settled, and the lower ranked teams are trying to break down the door.

Hopkins92

Yeah, to reiterate, the Swat = Hop game is as close to a long-standing rivalry as there is for Hop. Haverford is up there, too. With just a few exceptions, chuck the rankings out the window.

Really poor loss for the Warriors and the Mustangs as noted above. Big game midweek for Lyco as they host Messiah. I will be tuning into this one! The Commonwealth is wide open outside of Messiah's grasp on first place. The Freedom is up for grabs as well as 2nd place and 7th place are separated by just 1 game or 3 points. The Centennial is all but locked with the top 5 teams it will be a matter of seeding. The Landmark should be fun as well outside of Catholic and Etown snagging the first 2 spots. Lots of soccer left!

Still not understanding the Moravian love.  Beat a poor Juniata team 3-2, lost to Lycoming, beat Susquehanna on a pk call, lost to Muhlenberg, lost to Scranton.  Could have lost their last 5.  Earlier in the year lost to Montclair and tied Ramapo, which if you look at their schedule might be the best result they have........a tie to Ramapo.  In your defense, I dont know who I would put in there, maybe Scranton.

(Meaningless) Stat of the Day

Dickinson's Kevin Gilbert picked up his 8th goal of the year in Saturday's 2-1 win over WAC, putting him 1 behind Haverford's Nick Jannelli for the conference lead.  Dickinson is 6-0-0 when Gilbert has scored this year, and is 20-1-3 when he has scored in his career (34 goals).  It certainly seems like Dickinson's fate is tied to the success of its First Team All-CC striker.  With games still to play against Getty, Fords, and Hopkins, Dickinson certainly has a chance to bolster it's resume before the tournament, and should be one to watch in the regional rankings in the coming weeks.

Keep those stats coming, Young Buck! May your reap your karmic reward for digging up chestnuts like this one and the JHU stat from the other day.
