Not sure what's going on up in Alvernia. Game is tied 3-3 late in the 2nd, it's pouring buckets... Suspended match, maybe? Anyways, while there have been 6 goals, the overall defensive and goalkeeping has been subpar.

The live stream for Messiah can be found here: https://team1sports.com/goeasterneagles/

They also weirdly started the game @ 2:45. PBP guy referenced that the crowd was showing up "late" for a 3p start.. didn't provide the reason why. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say they are trying to stay ahead of the weather.

Big time upset alert, as Eastern just scored to go up 2-1 on Messiah... 10 minutes left.

Meanwhile, Hopkins is losing 1-0 to Ursinus... Most of the 2nd half to go.

=-==-=-=-

Messiah tie it up on a double-header with 4 minutes to go.

Hop still losing to a game Ursinus side. One way traffic, but the Jays don't really seem all that dangerous TBH.

Messiah 3 - 2 Eastern 2OT

Hopkins fixing to lose. Biggest win in Ursinus's history?

Going to try to watch some of these games today.  Especially the Hopkins game to see if Ursinus has done anything special to shut them down.  Same with the Messiah game.

I am starting to think that maybe some of these teams are learning a thing or two about their opponents from my game notes!  Actually no, not really.

Couple of things:

* This Ursinus team has now beaten Swat and Hopkins. I'm not gonna go back and check, but I doubt that's ever happened before. Hopkins gave up a goal on a long-ball/freekick and while they had a ton of possession and made a lot of racket going forward, I don't really remember a moment where they looked like they were actually going to score.

* Watch that Messiah match if it's the only thing you get to watch today. About as entertaining a D3 match as you are going to see this year. As I mentioned in the goalkeeper thread, the freshman goalie for Eastern really stood on his head.

* F&M, Swat, Gburg and WashC all squandered pretty good opportunities to make up ground on Hopkins today. Shows how tightly packed things are in the top tier of the Centennial.

I'll have to go back and watch the Messiah game. BTW, Swat beat Ursinus at Ursinus 2-1.

You're spot on about the Centennial. It seems this year the teams' abilities are more tightly-packed: traditionally weaker teams like Ursinus and Wash are better. They now are able to field 11 players that can trap the ball. The traditionally stronger teams are not as strong. It makes me worried for at-large bids come dance time. IIRC, Centennial typically will get 3 or even sometimes 4 bids. Dunno what's going to happen this year...

Hopkins Walk-On

The Hopkins-Ursinus game was painful to watch. Ursinus scored fairly early and then played defense for the remainder of the game. Hopkins did very little to break the defense down or look even a little threatening. Hopkins' senior center back did not play again. Without him, their system has very little bite. Just guys making a lot of passes that don't go anywhere.

The top three teams in the Centennial all have mid-week away games. They're all dangerous, with F&M in for a battle, not so much because of a soporific bus ride or a great opponent, but with the field. Haverford keeps that pitch long for a very different feel and speed than Turf Teamz. F&M will have to adapt. To their credit, the Fords' early-season mid-game melt-downs seem to have waned for the moment. Hop's tilt in Carlisle would be easy to overlook based upon Dick's record, but even bad teams tend to get better as the season matures. This match will tell us whether Hopkins is a box of Nilla Wafers, or a bottle Sriracha. Swat travels to Washington to take on their newly, and truly legitimate program. Both teams' back four are stout, and both teams have just average midfields. If Swat's goal-scorer is back from injury, they could come home with three points.

Per earlier (and consistent) commentary from Hopkins Walkon, seems like a really difficult game if Hop doesn't have their Senior centerback. Ursinus is having one of its best seasons in over a decade (at least), but that game still shouldn't have ended in that result. But they haven't scored in 180 minutes of soccer... That starts to get in your head.

I guess LVC - Alvernia feed got sorted: https://auwolves.com/watch/?Live=864&type=Live

Think they must have greased the keepers gloves ...
