With that field condition they should not be allowed to host a playoff let alone home games in the regular season.  Instead of SC Field of Dreams, their field should appear on the FIELD OF SCREAMS LOL.  I can't imagine it helps Muhlenberg with recruiting, hey come look at our game field HAHAHA

Totally agree, Rumor is that they are getting a turf field next year.  Apt series name for this time of year.  They could play on the turf football field also, but I don't think it is lined for soccer which is strange.  Also in the same conf., Haverford's field is as bad or almost as bad.

That rumor was last year as well.  Is it just a rumor or not.  Our high school field was unplayable and they found this thing called paint that allowed them to paint temporary lines on the football turf field.  Maybe we should tell Muhlenberg about paint!

That's where the famous Messiah-Tufts game took place. And, I recall it raining either just beforehand and/or during the game. IMO it was a factor in the outcome. Messiah couldn't host the second weekend that year, I think, b/c the women were hosting—a good problem for any institution to have, except in circumstances like those. Absolutely a terrible place to play the Falcon's style of beautiful soccer. Amherst wouldn't even notice something like this.

Wow.

I have to admit, I've been kind of "whatever" about some of the comments about Haverford's field. I'd been up there in 2017 and 2018 (I think, thereabouts) to watch some games and, frankly, the field seemed just fine.

Tuned in just now to check on the G-burg game and... Again... Wow. That's worse than the Muhles.

Wonder what happened for them to just say "eff it" with the field. That's a pretty shocking decline.

(As I said earlier, and maybe elsewhere, Haverford and Swats grass fields back in the day were quite nice. Maybe a little small in dimensions, but, nothing like that playground nonsense.

Games around the region this weekend...

NJAC
Stockton @ Ramapo @ 12:00 PM
Rutgers-Camden @ Montclair State @ 1:00 PM
New Jersey City @ TCNJ @ 6:00 PM
William Paterson @ Rowan @ 7:00 PM
Kean @ Rutgers-Newark @ 7:30 PM
GOTW: Stockton at Ramapo (also in weekly pool).   The Roadrunners have only 3 wins this season, but all of those are in-conference so they're sitting in 4th place.  With only 6 teams making the playoffs, a 10 win Stockton team in 8th place desperately needs the win.

LANDMARK
Catholic @ Moravian @ 1:00 PM
Scranton @ Susquehanna @ 1:00 PM
Goucher @ Elizabethtown @ 1:00 PM
Drew @ Juniata @ 1:00 PM
GOTW: Drew at Juniata (also in weekly pool).  Only 4 teams make the Landmark playoffs and Drew is sitting in 5th.  A win vs. Juniata likely moves them into 4th with one game left to play, thus keeping their playoff hopes alive.

MAC-C
York (Pa.) @ Eastern @ 3:00 PM
Lebanon Valley @ Stevenson @ 4:00 PM
Albright @ Messiah @ 5:00 PM
Widener @ Hood @ 7:00 PM
GOTW: Lebanon Valley @ Stevenson. (also in weekly pool).  The MAC invites 5 teams to the playoffs and Stevenson and LVC  currently sit 5th and 4th respectively.  But Eastern is nipping at their tails, so a loss for either this weekend would be devastating.

MAC-F
Delaware Valley @ Arcadia @ 1:00 PM
DeSales @ Lycoming @ 3:30 PM
Misericordia @ Stevens @ 7:00 PM
FDU-Florham @ King's @ 7:00 PM
GOTW: Misericordia @ Stevens.  The #1 seed and home field advantage is on the line.  Stevens is coming off a 5-1 pounding of DeSales while Misericordia suffered their first conference loss of the season in a 1-0 upset against Wilkes.

CENTENNIAL
Ursinus @ Franklin and Marshall @ 7:00 PM
Oct. 22Washington College @ McDaniel @ 1:00 PM
Gettysburg @ Haverford @ 3:30 PM
Swarthmore @ Dickinson @ 4:00 PM
Johns Hopkins @ Muhlenberg @  7:00 PM
GOTW:  Washington @ McDaniel (also in weekly pool). Washington is a .500 team but sits in 4th place in the conference.  McDaniel is 8-3-3  but is currently on the outside looking in.  The Green Terror deserve better this season and are fighting for their playoff lives

Ramapo 4-2 over Stockton. The Roadrunners now stand at 4-6-3 overall and 4-2-2 in the NJAC where they are tied for 2nd place!. The Ospreys move to 10-5-3 overall and 2-2-3 in the conference, and remain in 8th place.

GOTW: Drew at Juniata (also in weekly pool).  Only 4 teams make the Landmark playoffs and Drew is sitting in 5th.  A win vs. Juniata likely moves them into 4th with one game left to play, thus keeping their playoff hopes alive.
Juniata scores in the final 3 minutes to draw with Drew. The Rangers will likely finish the season 12-2-4 and miss out on the Landmark playoffs.

Stevenson outshoots LVC 20-8 and comes away with a 2-1 win. LVC is now tied with Eastern for the final playoff spot. LVC has Messiah and York remaining while Eastern only has last place Albright.  Eastern owns the H2H over LVC, so it looks like the Duthmen are done.

GOTW: Misericordia @ Stevens.  The #1 seed and home field advantage is on the line.  Stevens is coming off a 5-1 pounding of DeSales while Misericordia suffered their first conference loss of the season in a 1-0 upset against Wilkes.
Stevens punishes Misericordia 3-0 to secure the #1 seed in the MAC-F playoffs. Not necessarily an unexpected result, but a big win nonetheless.

GOTW:  Washington @ McDaniel (also in weekly pool). Washington is a .500 team but sits in 4th place in the conference.  McDaniel is 8-3-3  but is currently on the outside looking in.  The Green Terror deserve better this season and are fighting for their playoff lives
Washington scores with 43 seconds remaining in the game to win 1-0 and punch their playoff ticket.  McDaniel is now 8-4-3 on the season and will miss the playoffs for the 16th straight season.

paclassic89

What a weird season for Drew.  Their record and SOS might be good enough to keep them ranked for the rest of the season but they are going to miss out on their conference playoffs and are likely out of the at large race.  Just completely stalled out.

LVC went from taking Messiah to OT in the conference championship last season to missing out on the playoffs for the first time in 15 years, in their last season in the MAC Commonwealth no less.

Stockton was hanging around on the bubble for the first regional rankings.  That loss will dash their chances of making a late push.

Coach Jeff

What conference is LVC going to enter?  If LVC is leaving the MAC will the conference still have enough teams to get an automatic to the NCAA's?

stlawus

LVC is moving over to the MAC Freedom.  Wilkes and Lycoming bolted for the Landmark so LVC is moving conferences to balance the MAC out.  Both will have more than enough for the AQ.

Hopkins with a 2-2 draw at Muhlenberg. Credit to the Muhles who took their relatively few chances and cashed them in.

I do have to say, I like the urgency I see from Hop coming down the stretch. They were down 2-1 at the half, (in my eyes) against the run of play. They pressed hard and got a scramble-goal for their efforts.

And after about the 60th minute, the field was absolute trash. Turned into a bit of a rugby match, TBH.

F&M game for all the marbles. Dips on 20pts, Hop on 18 and Wash on 15.

Playoffs are a done deal, in addition to the above, G'burg, Muhles and Dickinson are in.

True - Field is crap all year.  The women had played shortly before the men that day.

Amazing scenario for the end of the season for all 6 Cent. Conf. playoff teams. All 6 play each other and on the last game of the season.

F&M v. JHU Winner takes all. 1 v. 2
WC v. Dickinson 3 v. 6 as it currently stands
Gettys v. Muhl (fortunately for Gettys at Gettys) 4 v 5

All are fighting for a home conf. play off game. This year the semis are hosted by the 1st and 2nd seed. Years past the winner of conf. hosted the semis and the finals.  Also, depending on results it could come down to 2nd or even 3rd tie breakers.

Another factor, WC and Gettys are playing non conf. mid week games.

May not be a soccer quote, but maybe apt by Americans who happen to play soccer - "Just Win, Baby."  If you younger, look it up, It's a great story even though I am a Giants fan.

Wife is on board for a day trip up Charm City next weekend. Should be a fun day!

=-=-=-=-=

We talked about McDaniel, who will close out one of their best seasons in many years (worst case, 8-5-1...) We focused on the fact that even in an "up" year, they struggled in conference. This year, so far, 1-4-3 in the Centennial. Interesting to see if they can keep pulling in better talent, perhaps they can tweak their OOC schedule to be more challenging to raise their overall level.

They play Ursinus, who continues to put up a fight, but remains winless (against 7 losses and 1 draw) in conference play.

One other note: And Hop-Walk On mentioned this many weeks ago, I just hadn't watched enough when he said this to discuss:

Hopkins is really vulnerable on set pieces, especially in the air. I know that of the 6 goals they've conceded on the year, at least 3 are from set pieces. They need to be really disciplined heading into November not to give up silly/needless fouls from 35 yards in.

So, while I agree McD had a great season, but you have to look at its non-conference opponents.  They really did not play any competitive programs. Then in conference they only scored 3 goals and gave up 9 over 8 games. The least goals scored in the conf.

Gather round, Mid-Atlantic friend-o's....

It's Widener Watch Time!!!

Widener took care of business against it's second straight MAC Freedom minnow, besting Hood in Historic Old Town Frederick on Saturday night by a convincing 4-0 margin. Your favorite All Conference suitor, Sean Fatiga pulled a brace, bringing his season tally to 10 goals and he added an assist for his troubles.

The Pride round the corner on the end of this historic season (for them, probably, I only went back 10 years) with a sturdy test against Alvernia, who are coming off of a huge win against Rochester on the weekend. They finish the regular season against Messiah, who... Messiah.

As is probably annoying of me to remind everyone at this point, Widener started the season with three losses and have now teared through the schedule and sit at 9-4-2 and the lone loss in that run is to the Mighty Ducks from Hoboken.

So you are calling the upset of the year on Saturday...interesting!  I agree it will definitely be a game to watch but I am not ready to claim victory for either team.
