Geez Louise... Messiah scores about 90 seconds into the match.

Could be a long night for York.

And now I'm very annoyed (not really)... The broadcast crew is giving SC credit for pushing Widener earlier in the year. I've banging that drum for months!!! :D

Man, I love this field. The fact that their scoreboard includes corners is *chef's kiss*.

2-0 - MacDonald rips a shot from the top of the 18 and then the rebound smashed home by Schwartz. This could be over by HT. York just can't contain the falcons going forward. I think we're up to 4 corners already.

Man... York defender slips right outside the 6 and guess who's sitting there to pounce. Matt MacDonald with his 20th goal on the year. Upper 90 far post.

At least I can devote full attention to the Widener-Alvernia game.

They might need to switch out their goalie... Can only fault him for the rebound on the first goal, but the other two weren't on him at all. But he just looks a little shell-shocked right now... Nevermind, really nice save on a MacDonald breakaway.

York score on a lightning counter attack.

3-1

Second teamers came on for the Falcons and things got choppy/disorganized which opened things up for the goal and now the Spartans have some life.

I wish I could text the broadcast... They are correct that Everyone's Favorite Striker, Sean Fatiga, went to Kingsway.

Jeez. Watching the start of Widener and I flip back to Messiah and it's 5-1. McM with his 21st (kind of a soft goal, TBH).

5th was a clinical volley taken from a nice little cross across the face of the goal. That, obviously, is a dagger.

Widener - Alvernia is a VERY even match tonight.

Stevens - FDU-F... same, which is a little surprising. I wonder how long FDU-F can hang, as they had to win the "play-in" game 2 nights ago.

Falcons are just relentless... 6-1 and can't watch the carnage anymore. That team is bonkers good.

I need to spend some time with Chicago... Right now, I haven't seen a team that can beat Messiah.

=-==-=

As I was typing, Mighty Ducks score... Leading scorer slots it in on a nice interchange. Bruno Andino? That is the most Jersey name ever and I love it!

=-=-==-=

Waitwaitwait... The Alvernia Sea Wolves??! That is fantastic. What is that, exactly? Like... A seal?

Sea Wolf... huh.

HA! Announcer just got a note slipped his way.. It's Golden Wolves, not Sea... That said, he just called them Sea Wolves again. This guy is cracking me up.

paclassic89

Golden Wolves lol.  The Widener commentator has it wrong.

Judging voices can be tough but it's safe to say this guy isn't an active student  ;D

He's really stuck on it... He's a trip. It's like your grandpa that doesn't really know the game but he loves his grandkid and just wants to be a part of things. He said a few minutes ago that a guy on Widener was trying to draw a charging call. He's very clear about what a direct vs. indirect kick is. It's charming (to me.)

And I'm not being snarky... Just to be clear.

FDU puts one off the cross bar from set piece sequence.

And a scramble in the box for the Mighty Ducks leads to a header.. 2-0 and I would be shocked if the Devils can do much to reverse this course. Not a blowout, but Stevens doesn't allow many goals. I think they've had a ridiculous shutout run to end this season... 8 games or something?

ETA - 7 of last 8 and 11 shutouts overall.

5 goals allowed on the season.

Right, and with my professional sleuthing (google) I was able to learn that a Seawolf is a mythical creature and it's lucky to see one.

(I'm familiar with Stonybrook because of lax, but I didn't know what their mascot was.)

If you put Fatiga on a team with a better midfield, he'd be an absolute monster. As it is, the service into him is just REALLY spotty. Frustrating to watch, frankly.

The soccer IQ of the fans from Widener near the broadcaster is... not great.

It's hard to go from the Messiah overall vibe to... this.

Oh, props to the Messiah duo. Love listening to those guys... Also one of the few broadcasts that does a nice little HT "show." But just in general, very enjoyable to listen to.

Stevens now up 3... They do come forward with a purpose. Nice exchange leads to a fwd who gets a little lucky when an aimless pass hits of a defender and goes right back to him at the top of the box... finishes quite well.

The Widener - Alvernia game is a bit of a slog, but it's a bit like the Etown - Goucher game... Alvernia seems a little more dangerous at the moment.

Pride Nation, as evidenced by the fans near the broadcaster, is VERY tense. :D

Always cracked me up hearing parents/fans who think they are "cheering" for their team, but everything out of their mouths and their tone is EXTREMELY negative. :D

Yelling "C'MON!!" at your team with a negative tone isn't super helpful/supportive. Just sayin'.

=-==-=-=

I have to say, for the record, the camera work in this Widener game is seizure inducing. And they need to pan the camera down about 20 percent. I guess they don't realize that the chyron is taking up a huge amount of real estate on the screen.

jdfranklin23

Widener vs Alvernia is. knotted at 0's with 10 minutes left in regulation.  Seems like a pretty even match, with Alvernia seeming to get more of the scoring chances don't have the stats in front of me).  I wish they would move the score to a corner of the screen instead of gigantic along the bottom middle of the screen!

Pride Nation erupts!!!!

1-0 off of a cross and very nice header at the middle/back post.

Game seemed destined for OT.

3:30 left.

Ball game.

Goal scorer is a Freshman. The ride continues! Honestly, they are a scrappy bunch and they have belief. But, really, on the grass at Shoemaker, that sure looks like a tough task. The Pride played a good game at home on this turf against the Pride, but I just don't see it on that grass.

11-5-2... Championship game... Dream season.

I kind of luck-boxed into picking up on this team early, but what a ride. I'm about to be annoying...

After 0-3 start.. 11-2-2...

I know, I know.. Alvernia is their only Ranked result, and that might even go away now? (I don't fully get the RvR stuff)... But what a season for a team that has truly seen some dark days in the not very distant days ( 3-8-5 in 2017).

No Lent-Koop tonight? Any Falcons fans have info on that?  Would be a huge loss going into the tourney if he's not available
Noticed it right away—how could I not? He's one of the BIG THREE needed to go all the way, if that's their destiny this year. No backup is anywhere close to his game.

The bad news is, he wasn't in uniform, just in sweats.

The good news is, hw worked out with the team before the game and didn't appear hobbled. Probably just a precaution to keep him out of a game they didn't have to win. Let's hope so...
