Maroons win 1-0 on a great goal by Michael Ramsey.  77 degrees and a beautiful sunset.  Much more entertaining than watching college (American) football on the TV.  Sat near a small group of young female students.  Was impressed with their trash talking, very funny!

Sounds really nice. Hope their antics weren't too extreme! Hahaha.

Like previously posted, the Centennial Conf. seems to be sorting itself out unlike the first two meetings.

The last two (Wed. and Sat.) seems to be establishing the leaders - Muhlenberg and Wash. College both 3-0-1 then F&M 2-0-2 and JHU 2-1-1.
Next Gettysburg at 1-1-2, but the Muhls crushed them 5-1 tonight. The last playoff position is a tie between Haverford 0-1-3, Ursinus 1-3 and McDaniel 1-3.

Still lot to play for with 5 conf. games remaining.

F&M is finally connecting and scoring, Wednesday they beat Ursinus at Ursinus 3-1 with a pk and 2 really nice goals.  Today they beat McDaniel at McDaniel by the same score. Difference was F&M really scored 4 goals in that the first goal was on their own goal in the first half (hometown scorer seemed to give F&M a break and awarded it to McDaniel). They then scored 3 in the second, one off another great free kick and the other two, while savable, were hit hard enough the keeper could not keep them out.  Also the F&M keeper made a very nice pk save when the score was 1-1. Oscar Horowitz got a goal in each game so he is up to 10 and leading the Cent. Conf.  Koa Koliebe, who has goals in the last three games, is second with 6.

One thing F&M may have in its favor is that, of the 5 Cent. Conf. games remaining, it gets to play Muhlenberg, Wash. College and JHU. All tough games, but to win the conference they will most likely not have to rely on other teams to win, lose or draw to make the playoffs. Muhls and JHU tied.

FYI Wash. College has the same scenario, but  they have to play all three teams in a 8 day period (Sat. Muhls, Wed. JHU and F&M to end the season Sat.)  F&M plays the Muhls next Saturday, JHU a week later and WC two weeks later. Interesting enough, F&M's schedule has Monday games before Muhls and JHU and a whole week off before WC. That may or may not be an advantage.

Washington & Lee 3 - 0 Averett.  Agbeyegbe scored a hat trick, which should help with his confidence.  Coach Singleton mixed up the starters a fair amount, though I'm not sure that's the reason for the decisive win.

Is it possible this conference gets 4 teams into the postseason like last year?  Or is it too early to tell?

No it was definitely tasteful.  Made for good entertainment.  Not a surprise but watching the game live is so much better than streaming.  Seeing the entire field and hearing the players and coaches communicate adds a dimension you can't find with student commentary or videography.

The problem with D3 coverage is not enough cameras, the commentary does not really matter if you can see whats taking place.

The Averett livestream had *three* camera, one on each side of the field, and one behind the goal. They confusingly switched the sideline camera, so every few minutes your team was going in the opposition direction.  Difficult to follow the action. In all my years of watching soccer I've never seen that!

So you never know. Definitely a possibility. They had 5 in 2021. 4 is a possibility and we'll have to see with the Region 5 rankings. Messiah and Widener most likely in. Question will be who makes the Cent Conf final.  If an underdog makes it to the final and loses them there might only be 3 teams. It'll all come down to NCAAs regional ranking.

I thought there were only 3 from the Centennial last year.  Muhlenberg, F&M, and Hopkins.  Am I missing a team?   I think 4 would be a stretch this year with how things are shaping up.

I have to remind myself that Widener is not in the Centennial Conference. They were in JHU's conference [MAC South] back in my day.

Hopkins beat Swarthmore 4-1 although the game was closer, at least early, than the score indicates. Swat pressed high and hard to start and Hopkins had two bad giveaways in the back that should have been Swat goals. After a 2-0 halftime score, Swat brought it back to 2-1 with a nice free kick but Hopkins turned up the heat and closed out the game well. Hopkins' goals were all very nice - first one was a lob over the top by one of the center  backs (Elias) that beat the press and went straight to the Jays' leading scorer, Griffin Meyer, who took one touch and hit it home. Second goal came off a throw-in to Max Edelstine, who handled it nicely and pushed it to Meyer for goal #2. Second half goals were both very quick attacks up the middle with a series of nice passes (including back heel passes on both goals) and decent shots.

It was nice to see Hopkins' offense come alive.

Sorry you are correct, I just checked the bracket.  There were 3.

Edelstein is a CA kid who has been a nice pickup for Hopkins.  He was a grad transfer from D1 Colgate, where he was a modest contributor, but only started 8 games in four years (7 during the 2021 season when Colgate went winless the entire season).  He had 5 goals and 1 assist over his Colgate years (3 + a few games in the 2021 Covid spring).  At Hopkins, he's become a bit of a playmaker and ball winner who has 4 assists to tie for second in the Centennial.

More generally, it feels like Hopkins has been one of the biggest users of the Covid-year transfers on the men's and women's sides, in part because it has a first class university and grad programs, but in part because its coaches have bought into it.  It will be interesting to see if there any downsides in the next few years when Covid transfers will no longer be available and some upperclassmen have less playing experience than they might have had without the transfers.
