Gordon,

Now that you've seen the Bruins play twice, I'd love to get your thoughts. Perhaps you're going to write something that will go up on the site this week, so I don't want to steal the punchline. Still, I'd love your initial gut level reaction.

Great season by the Eagles. Thanks for being such great hosts! I heard nothing but incredible things about your facility. (And thanks for getting the live stats issue straightened away for today!)

Total class act by George Fox by going to their locker room and not doing their celebrating on the floor in front of UMW. I think they were suppose to cut the net down and they did not even do that. Thank you so much for showing sportsmanship and understanding the feelings of our players and mostly our seniors.

You do not see that everyday and how nice it was.

Rooting for GF to win it all!!

Congratulations to George Fox!  You now have fans in Virginia!  Best of luck as you continue your journey to the Perfect Season!
It's been a great four years, UMW Seniors!  Happily, I'm not done seeing you, just watching you play.  You will always be 'The Freshmen' to me. 30-1 ain't nothing to complain about.  The new facilities have been well broken in so the teams in the future have an inspiration.
Love to you all!!!

Blue Zone:

I'll post my thoughts on the NWC message board.

Thanks to everyone at UMW for making it a memorable weekend. The University, particularly Sports Information Director Clint Often, were great hosts. I enjoyed talking to folks around the program and the facility is first rate. Coach Applebury's husband showed me the old facility. I didn't realize it was built on top of a swimming pool.

I was very impressed by the game night atmosphere. The student section was energetic and very positive. If they said anything negative toward any of the teams, I didn't hear it.  The Eagles also have the best mascot I've ever seen. She was energetic, funny and uninhibited -- very rare for Division III mascots. She was even out meeting some of the fans and thanking them for coming to the game before she put on her costume. She's a great ambassador for the program, with and without the bird outfit. :)

Some people have already found the interview but I sat down with sophomore Sam Partonen before the George Fox game.  She's a nice floor general for the Eagles going forward.  Here's what she had to say.

Great year, and great weekend Eagles! Good luck to George Fox at the Final Four; they're a great team.

Congratulations to Jenna McRae and Katie Wimmer from UMW for both making 2nd team all region team and to Coach Applebury for being Coach of the year.

Very well deserved for all.

In a really good game George Fox beats Amhurst.  Go Bruins

This is so true and I'm glad it's not just me seeing it this way. In the D-3 NCAA tournament it was the same if not worse. Something needs to be done as it takes away from the game.

I hate the inconsistency in women's basketball.  Foul for a bump or reach in with no contact, then totally miss huge contact fouls.  Don't know an answer...just wish it would improve.

4 way tie for first with each team having a league loss. looks like the CAC may be up for grabs this year.

Familiar faces in the CAC championship game tomorrow. UMW at MMT at 2.

A Sighting?? was that the ghost of Bill Finney at today's game???

ronk

Bill was in town; I understand he was at Scranton's shoot-around for Assistant Coach Steph Witko.

Bill's "ghost" came through for MMT in the CAC Championship.  ;D Good luck to MMT in the NCAA tourney.

Christopher Newport claimed its spot atop the CAC's women's basketball totem pole before formally joining the league.
