I think CNU's Fan has a good shot at CAC rookie of the year...hope she gets it!

I would think she is in the running. 10.6 PPG, second on team to only the senior Jessica. Has 58 steals. Plays solid D.

I could be wrong, but I don't think there are any other freshmen that have done as well...frankly, her closest competition is likely her teammate, Foster.

The new NCAA Division III women's basketball regional rankings are posted: https://www.d3hoops.com/notables/2019/02/women-regional-rankings-third

Anyone have a data sheet?  I'm wondering how Haverford and Elizabethtown jumped CNU....

The data sheets usually accompany the rankings. Possibly, the teams are so close that the vrro made the dif - 1-3 fof CNU, 2-3 for the other 2.

Data sheets are linked now. Sorry about that.

Probably, even though Haverford had a much weaker In-Division SOS than CNU, not to mention one less win...looks like they're putting a lot of weight on the Results vs All Division Ranked Opponents.

Remember ... it isn't just the raw number of 1-3 or 2-3 ... it who did they play, beat, and win. Where are those teams ranked. It isn't a raw number to the committees.

And in this specific case you might think they are putting weight on the vRRO, but that isn't necessarily true. There is a lot of data including non-conference SOS numbers that committees look at. It isn't just one piece of data.

CNU and Haverford are split by one win overall, Haverford seems to have a better vRRO data (their two wins includes one against higher-ranked Gettysburg), the SOS gives CNU the edge, but that all leads me to want to give in to other data more.

Interesting that you should say that Dave, I'm trying to put together my Pool C projection this evening and I'm running into something I didn't see when I did the same for volleyball three months ago.

In VB, it was glaringly obvious which teams went out and played all comers and who was just trying to rack up wins. Unexpectedly to me in WBB, across the 8 regions, everybody's SOS and vRRO records look all....same-ish.

Dave 'd-mac' McHugh

Yeah... not surprising in WBB. I think the shear numbers split things into: elite, vast majority in the middle, and really bad.

VB tends to have more pockets maybe?

Can't figure out why Gettysburg is getting CNU in the 1st round of their pod; CNU is the strongest of the 4 teams. Gettysburg is probably hosting because Westfield is too far from CNU but they should be playing the #3 seed instead of the #1 seed.

I wish I could tell you ... we didn't get an answer from the committee chair that was helpful. I like Karin and think she is doing well, but that match up and a couple of others don't hold up. I also did some digging and didn't get a better perspective on it either.

I don't know about that.....the regional rankings before selection had Gettysburg ranked higher (3rd) than CNU (7th)  in Mid-Atlantic. And I know it is difficult to compare across regions but Mount Saint Mary is #2 in their region.

Can't wait for Friday!

I like to look at Massey to help evaluate teams...they have Gettysburg and CNU at 58 and 62 respectively, while Westfield State is 121 and Mount St. Mary is 150 w/a horrible strength of schedule.  If the Lady Captains can get by Gettysburg, they likely win the second round, and perhaps handily.  Overall, they're extremely young, but they have the potential to surprise some people....

GO LADY CAPS!
