Unfortunately, the last part happens often on the women's side. What is more unfortunate is that none of her colleagues wanted to take her place to help us out.

A few years ago, Bobbi Morgan at Haverford (the year before she became chair) filled in for that same exact reason. It wasn't a great interview, but at least someone stepped up.

It would have been so much better interview with additional "color" from her committee colleagues!  especially since they knew she was missing for significant portions of it.

Do I sense a little bit of an NCAA double standard here (between MBB & WBB)?  If not WBB Regional Rankings posted late while MBB's were so fast they needed to be corrected.  Then lack of time being posted on WBB brackets while MBB has them a couple of hours after brackets posted.

First ... she did ask her colleagues for notes. So they did help her. They just didn't want to be the voice of the committee.

And I don't think there is a double-standard .. I think the women's liaisons are under some mistaken notion that the rankings get released the day after the brackets. Unfortunately, I have tried to remind them several years now that their notion is incorrect but sometimes my comments fall on deaf ears is the best I can figure.

I don't know what you are saying per "lack of time," but that might not matter.

As for game times, it has long been the women's tournament's practice to give the schools some leniency in setting game times. Unfortunately, it means that we are here at 5:30 p.m. ET with Bowdoin and Trinity (Texas) still not having announced their game time. (Or, at least they have not added the time to their schedule.)

The term "double standard" has a pejorative stance that suggests one person is making the decision to to men's one way and women's the other. In reality, it's two different groups choosing to do things differently.

Agreed that the women's final regional rankings often do not come before we prod them for them.

would be cool if WBB committee copied MBB lead in requesting hosting schools for afternoon game possibilities so fans could watch more games live.  or maybe move left side of bracket to Sat & Sun time frame

Pat Coleman

I wish we could do Sunday in D-III, but we have a number of schools who will not compete on Sunday for religious reasons.

so those schools go to other side of the bracket.  fan in me loves seeing games live.

Messiah, Calvin, George Fox, Hope, Wheaton come to mind as WBB tournament regulars who don't play on Sunday, and that spans Pennsylvania to Oregon.

But, pod by pod might be more doable.

Only challenge there is that one pod lines up with another where a team got an extra day of rest (or one less day depending on how you look at it). Thus why the men's bracket for the Sweet 16 is split in half with one side being Friday and the other Saturday. Can't have complaints about it. :)

I would be firmly in the camp of that not being a big deal. It isn't baseball. Both would get at least four days between games and that's plenty.

Yeah ... having had to help with Hoopsville Classic scheduling and knowing what some comments are sometimes at our event ... the rest conversation is very much a basketball one as well.

I get the difference between playing back-to-back days and playing with an off day in between -- we hear it from coaches in Vegas as well -- but I would not back someone complaining about the difference between four and five days off in basketball.

When it comes to coaches ... I don't want to guess what they will make a big deal. LOL

With travel for some teams including flights and such, I suspect that loses more time as well. Trying to give everyone the same amount of time to travel and practice is likely the key at this point in the tournament.

What coaches will make a big deal about > what's actually relevant. :)

Just read a nice article about CNU's Anaya Simmons, the CAC Rookie of the Year...had no idea she was a stand out point guard in high school...don't see a lot of 5'10" point guards in high school or D3.
