Ryan I remember 2017 they flew Tufts and Scranton to Washington U and Oshkosh drove 6 or 7 hrs.So anything is possible! That year was almost the same as this bracket with CNU!So will wait and see.

And like Oshkosh to Wash U or Tufts to Scranton you can get at least Amherst to CNU with two flights!

VT-Alum-NOVA

CNU --> Amherst is 565 miles.  All to save flight $$ for Tufts.  If the rule had been 2020 rule of 500 miles, it would be played at CNU.  So being #1 in nation gets no home court and almost 9 hour bus ride.  Committee forget this when constructing upper left?

If DeSales had beaten Tufts last night, then CNU would be hosting next weekend.

It looks like Baldwin Wallace wasn't even an option for the committee, so that was six flights before considering CNU, not five, which means even less chance. Rough go of things for the Captains.

Well if that is the case then Scranton should host because NYU is 2 hrs away and fly hope,Millikin in just like with CNU situation.God forbid Amherst go on the road !

Hope's the higher seed there, and its two flights either way.

Well CNU is the higher seed with two flights 563 they can bus them remember 600 miles!

Augie2020

So in one pod we go by higher seed but the other we dont?

Augie2020

I think they did a terrible job with pods! 3 teams are hosting in the Midwest and of course Amherst in the east

Geography is king in d3. Now, the committee could have bracketed differently to minimize flights in other places.  The NCAA will sometimes allow an extra flight to reward seeding if there's a small number overall. To me, that's the regret from this tournament. It ruined their flexibility.

For the 2nd weekend, Scranton will always have an advantage relative to CNU by geography. This ad was modified this year by extending the distance from 500 to 600 miles, reduced for Scranton, increased for CNU. Without the mod, Amherst would still be hosting if DeSales had beaten Tufts, rather than CNU hosting this year if DeSales won last nite.

I personally think they can use outside help hint(D3hoops)In my eyes they really screwed CNU.For some reason Amherst didn't win their conference but will be hosting a sectional? That top 16 is garbage not even worth the print. It means nothing but to confuse people more!

Amherst is the highest ranked team in their quadrant that has the lowest # of flights required; if Marietta had beaten Hope, then Marietta would have hosted(no flights required). Them's the resources; it's not a question of screwing someone; you have a advantage/disadvantage by reason of geography for the 2nd weekend; it's going to be that way until there's a major change.
