How do you figure that out Ronk highest ranked team in that quadrant?

Augie2020

According to Massey Hope,Trine,CNU,Whitewater top 4 teams Then Transylvania 10th Amherst 13th.So they gave two of the top 4 out.It seems to me they plug holes every year and they don't have one standard program! Wether it be the 600 miles for some teams or 3 Midwest teams hosting the sectionals.Im not happy that they can give Amherst a sectional over a Team that is more deserving that in CNU.I understand Scranton going to Hope but we can use this same scenario with Scranton. Why not give it to Scranton because they are "what they call centrally located"over Hope?NYU is 2 hrs to our east you could have flown in Hope,Millikin oh wait Hope is higher seed im fine with that.Amherst is not a higher seed then CNU and you can tell by the way the brackets came out!

What does Massey have to do with any of this? In case you can't figure it out the answer is nothing.

Augie2020

Well show me where Amherst is ahead of CNU.You can't only use the criteria when it fits your way!

Augie2020

Your so quick to come up with a smart ass answer show me where Amherst is ahead of CNU?

Several people have already explained it to you, you just chose to not understand. In choosing who hosts the round of 16 the number one factor is who can host with no flights/fewest flights being taken with preference going to the highest seed that can do so. In this bracket the remaining seeding would be 1.) CNU would need two flights to host, 2.) Amherst would need one flight to host, 3.) Tufts would need two flights to host and 4.) Trinity would need three flights to host. So, who gets to host in this riddle? It's not hard to figure out if you really try.

It's not the highest ranked team, it's the highest ranked team with the fewest flights required.  As I've said, the committee messed this up by not bracketing to avoid flights.  Yeah, there's going to be teams playing each other who wouldn't normally face off this second weekend, but there were ways to do that without having so many flights.

I mean, even without redoing the whole bracket, you could've switched the Tufts pod with the NYU pod and made it easier for CNU to host.

Agree and if you look back that was my exact words!Committee definetly needs help and I'm not sucking up to D3hoops but they do a better job and then you have no inside influence(another words politics)going on.I have seen it in the past and it goes on at this level also.Im always a believer reward the teams that deserve it not because you have flight issues or such. You work all year long to get that position. to be taken away because one team has only 1 flight compared to 2.They sure in hell didnt mind paying for a flight from PA to George Fox for 1 game.So my mind will never change CNU really got burnt and they need to fix it with all the money D1 makes hand some of it down!So put this behind and move on Good luck to all!

I think the best switch was to move Ithaca Pod and Trine pod up to the bracket with Amherst ,Tufts and CNU ,Trinity(tx)to Mhbu,Transylvania pod

They couldn't do that; it would have 2(CNU,Transylvania) of the top 4 seeds in the same quadrant.

As a CNU fan, I appreciate your comments, Augie2020...unfortunately, this is nothing new, so I'm disappointed, but not shocked.  It really boils down to the kids getting the shaft...anyone that wants to mention that D3 makes up a tiny percentage of the overall revenue, please save your breath, or keystrokes, 'cause that "shouldn't" matter...that's like a high school AD telling the tennis team that all they can get are tennis balls for the season, simply because the football team brought in the majority of the money.  What about uniforms, travel, equipment, etcetera?  It "shouldn't" happen, plain and simple...whoever wins this sectional will have earned it, but I'm hoping the basketball Gods will be paying particular attention to CNU.

  Augie,
Too far for me; would have gone to Marietta if they had beaten Hope; that would have caused the same issue for the Marietta men this weekend as the CNU women last weekend.

NCAA "rules" should be modified to give flexibility for sectional hosting over current 600 miles limit.  When you have 16 sites, I can see mileage limit helping to save money.  But when it is 4 sites, give some flight money up to give higher regional seed hosting rights.
In this instance, it came down to one additional team having to fly and bureaucracy rules won.  they were quick to change to 600 miles to save money but unwilling to allow CNU to pay for flights and request buses from Bradley Airport to defray those costs?  that is asinine bureaucracy.  NCAA saves money with not paying flights for CNU but unwilling to allow buses from Bradley Airport because CNU willing to pay for themselves???

Again, the issue was the rest of the bracket. If they had arranged it to minimize flights elsewhere, they'd have room here. The D3 budget issues are a problem, but they're not the cause of this particular one.
