Catholic 65, Goucher 61 (1 OT) yesterday

I read both schools accounts of the game. This was more competitive than I'd have expected based on the two schools' seasons so far. Is there anyone who was there that can add insight?

The most interesting matchup tomorrow looks like Marymount at Salisbury, as one gets its second CAC loss.  A chance York at CUA could prove interesting, too. York needs another CAC win.

Some nasty talk especially from York 06 on the men's CAC board about the men's York/CUA matchup tonight. It sounds like there'll be a good but heated crowd at DuFour. I wonder if it could spill over onto the floor, maybe even late in the womens' game?

To quickly go back to the GOU/CUA game on Saturday night... GOU should have won it.

I caught the last few minutes of the 2nd half and the entire OT... but it should have never gotten to the OT>

Goucher had the ball in the final seconds. But there was about a three second difference between the shot clock and the game clock. Goucher got a shot off in the lane... just before the buzzer sounded. On the rebound... Goucher had it wide open in the post with no one around... but the player thought the horn she heard was the regulation horn... it was the shot clock. She turned around... two three steps with the ball and flipped it behind her.

Whistle... traveling violation... with 1.4 seconds on the clock.

All she had to do was put the ball back up on the backboard... even if she did think the half was over... and Goucher walks away with the win.

Competitive game was an understatement. Both teams tried hard but the Cards got the edge in OT.

Where have the Catholic, Salisbury, and Marymount posters disappeared to? How about some insight on last night's games? The scores look very interesting.

And thanks, d-mac, on the insight on the CUA/Goucher game last Saturday. The case of the Missing Buzzer Beater! I bet she felt horrible.

Yeah... the look on her face when she heard the whistle and saw the clock was... priceless (for lack of a better word)... maybe this described it best:  :o followed by  :-[

As for last night's UMW/GOU game... do you really need insight on a 40-plus point blow out?! UMW is simply that good. I wouldn't want to get in the way of these girls. They go 10-11 deep easily... with no let up in play. Probably going to take a loss or two before the tournament... and then it should be interesting.

I assume it was you wearing the sweatshirt with d-mac on the front at the UMW/Gooucher game?  I was interested in insight into the Salisbury/MU overtime game & the close York/CUA game. I wonder where their posters have gone?

Tomorrow's CAC matchups have the first 4 teams in the league standings playing against the teams that are currently the bottom 4.

Well, I saw the last 12:00 or so the York-CUA game.  York was up by around 13 I believe, but Catholic started to slowly chip away with great defense.   I don't think York scored for a good 5 minutes or so.  Shannon Mertz was in some foul trouble so Liz Koruda, a freshman, came in and played great.  Catholic nearly gave it away at the end with some problems beating the York press---they turned it over undneath the York basket--but survived.  Its funny--both the men's and women's games featured CUA coming back from big deficits.  Both teams did a good job keeping their composure and not trying to get everything back at once...
